Allardyce already dipping his snout in the trough?

The Football Association is investigating allegations England manager Sam Allardyce used his role to negotiate a £400,000 deal and offer advice on how to "get around" rules on player transfers.

The Telegraph claims to have footage from August of Allardyce meeting men claiming to represent a Far East firm where he appears to say third-party ownership rules can be avoided.

The 61-year-old has yet to respond to the allegations, while the FA has asked to see the paper's filmed recordings.

Third-party ownership of players was banned by the FA in 2008.

During the meeting with the businessmen, who were undercover reporters, it is alleged Allardyce said it was "not a problem" to bypass the rules and he knew of agents who were "doing it all the time".

It is alleged by the paper that a deal was struck with the England boss worth £400,000, which could represent a conflict of interest if he is paid by a company whose footballer clients could benefit from preferential treatment by an international manager.

it really sounds like he's done. telegraph has lots more dirt on tape too apparently. couldn't happen to a nicer fatheaded egotistical knobber.

weren't there always rumours about him and gartside at bolton? dodgy payments for foreign players, allardyce's son being an agent etc?

i have a mate at one of the broadsheets and he reckons word is the telegraph has got allardyce on tape talking about recreational drug use. allegedly etc etc. which if it's true, he's finished.

Sack the fat, greedy bastard.

And sack David Moyes at Sunderland.

And build a shopping mall on top of the Stadium of Light for good measure.

What a week, month, season, decade ....

I think they'll either rap his knuckles (if the press stops now), or drag out their investigation until after the Malta and Slovenia games and give him his P45.

That gives them a month to find a replacement.

Added: If he does go, he'll have one of the best England records ever: 100% and never conceded a goal in any competitive match.

Allardyce has history in being caught on camera in a sting by undercover reporters. Back in 2006 Allardyce, and his son, Craig, were implicated in a BBC Panorama documentary, Undercover: Football's Dirty Secrets, which alleged that he had taken "bungs" (bribes) from agents for signing certain players. Two agents, Teni Yerima and Peter Harrison, were secretly filmed, each separately claiming that they had paid Allardyce through his son. Allardyce denied this and stated he was going to sue the broadcaster to clear his name but failed to ever issue libel proceedings.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

he's waited 39 years to get the england job and didn't even get to manage them at wembley, the fatheaded greedy bent get. just when you think the england circus can't get any more farcical.

What a wankker and just a complete shower of shiite The England is. The whole kit n caboodle should go into dormancy for at least 10 years so people don't have to be consistently embarrassed and disappointed.

best thing about this is that it's not in any way remotely surprising. you've always really known that allardyce is an arrogant bastard who would think that he could get away with this sort of thing, or with anything, simply because he has this ludicrous 'big sam' persona. it is though amusing that he turns out to be so monumentally stupid as to talk about it openly with a bunch of total strangers over a pint of wine.

and as mentioned above, it's not like the FA weren't warned before - the bbc panorama show 10 years ago cast massive doubt on allardyce. now, having hung the england manager out to dry, it'll be interesting to see if the telegraph follows through with the rest of it and names the other 8 managers it claims have been proven to take bungs/bribes. name and shame the lot of them.

The main reason he got the tin tack is that he rightly admitted that the FA is just about making money.

God forbid anyone expose these parasites for what they are.

The press have hounded out 3 England managers in the last 20 years - Big Sam, Glenda & Tel - and 2 others in recent times had their private lives forensically examined by the press - Robson & Eriksson. Can anyone think of any other major international football nation where the press behave in the same way with the same results? BTW, I supported Big Sam's appointment but he has behaved like a total arse in this instance. Eight more top managers are due to be named in relation to transfer bungs by he Telegraph in the next few days. "Squeaky bum time", I recall a certain Scotsman once saying.

The Telegraph will probably wait till England appoint another manager and if he is one of the 8, then they'll expose him

It's being reported in the UK that the names have already been passed to the FA. At a guess, I'd say that Saturday is a good day for newspaper sales and for football stories.

i wouldn't say allardyce or hoddle were "hounded out" - they made catastrophic errors of judgement and were justifiably booted out. venables was being investigated by the police so that wasn't really press-driven either - el tel was popular with the media.

the press have done nothing wrong whatsoever here with allardyce - in fact it's good to see journalists doing what they're actually supposed to be doing for a change.

"On this basis, I suppose the Allardyce story meets these requirements – particularly as it appears to be only the first instalment of a series which will see the Telegraph later this week reveal further allegations of corruption in professional football. These will apparently include a high-profile manager admitting his players were betting on their own games and a senior figure at a Premier League club who apparently facilitated a plan to bribe managers. "

i don't really follow why the telegraph is holding back and not naming names here - they've already hung the england manager out, why rein it in now? they don't have evidence and are afraid of being sued?
