AIS in Laos

Featured Replies

Is there any AIS coverage in Laos/Vientiane near the Mekong river? I am especially interested in 4G coverage.

Yes there is for 3G at the least.

Although be warned that the last time I was there I got clobbered for a roaming charge running into thousands despite the fact I did not use the phone at all.  AIS were unrelenting about the charge.

I can only assume the phone was doing a background download of some sort and it used the Lao network.

Next time I'll take a dumb phone.

Just disable data roaming and you are fine.
