Motorbike license (Need exam if already have car DL)

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Thai Car driver license, want to have a motorbike DL as well.

Do i need a new exam (both the theory and driving) or is the driving test enough?

Cheers

If you dont have a motorbike licence from your home country then  you will have to do the full Thai motorbike test

reaction tests, computer theory exam and then on track driving exam.

Thai Drivers License Checklist

Thank you, but all the links in said post (closed for comments) are not either wrong or not working..

Thai Driving test Online - http://thaidriving.info/

Thai Drivers License Checklist - Two Year - http://www.dlt.go.th...09-23&Itemid=88

- Five Year - http://www.dlt.go.th...renew&Itemid=88

The first link works for me.

http://thaidriving.info/

And the three PDFs from there contain the 90 questions you need to swot.

(50 selected in test, 45 must be correct)

http://thaidriving.info/files/E-EXAM1.pdf

http://thaidriving.info/files/E-EXAM2.pdf

http://thaidriving.info/files/E-EXAM3.pdf

The two other links have unfortunately been voided by restructuring of the DLT website.

New working links (although not applying for case of doing from scratch):

ok, thank you so much...

Don't know where your from but compared to a motorcycle test in the UK it's child's play,  you'll sail through, takes some time but you'll find it easy.

Don't forget the motorcycle helmet.

And own motorbike right? or is it motorbikes from DLT that you are riding on the driving test?

You refer to the "driving test" which is indeed kind of a joke.

But the theory test needs preparation:

Some rules are simply different (in specifics).

Some questions are unclear/vague, terrible pictures.

At least one question is simply wrong, sign shown does not match "correct" answer.

Many of the young Thais in my class failed the theory test.

It should be mentioned that the Thai version is more difficult.

The pool of questions from which the 50 are selected is much bigger (~1000).

It contains stuff like registration/insurance/legal which is not in the English version.

The 3 links above, is that the actual questions? or just some question similar to the test?

i mean, can i be sure they are relevant for the questions after the change, i understand happened not long time ago.

cheers

To the best of my knowledge the total pool of 90 questions hasn't changed since last year (when I had my test).

Yes, only 90 questions out of which 50 are selected randomly by the test computer.

It was obviously too much for them to translate more questions.

English language knowledge is a rare source in Thailand and still the 90 questions have some questionable wordings.

And don't be surprised/puzzled if the same identical question appears more than once

(they need some more IT expertise too).

The change was only about the number of questions and percentage to be correct.

Must be more than two years that the change took place.

I don't remember the previous numbers.

ok thank you.

The only thing im wondering about now, is it its possible just to take the computer test, or you need to have the 2 hour class as well :)

edit: I understand the reacon/vision test is needed, but i think i saw somewhere there was a 2 hour class as well, but maybe i was wong

thx

2 hour?

Happy guy.

The "tutoring" for my license was close to 6 hours or so (9h to 16h) with a 1h break.,

Watching videos and listening to two "tutors", the second being a cop in full gala.

Bored to death. A couple of attendants fell asleep.

That was on day 1.

Theory and driving test on day 2 with a long break in between.

Don't mix that up with the video watching for renewal.

That's my experience, I don't say it's the same every place.

You can go to one of gov licenced schools in Bkk and get a pass, my Oz mate went with his own Honda Wave bike to our local DLT as they don't lend mopeds and found it a breeze, except he got army tank question wrong.

That's gotta be right all over Thai DLT's seem to do things different.
