Hello

I have Internet ( TOT which works very well ) in a two- storey house; every other rooms receive the signal , even other houses beside  but one  bedroom in the first floor  has no signal ( wi fi with smartphones work  good in this room , but not the notebook )

how can it possible ?  against the wall , there is a thick mattress , can it prevent the wi fi signal ?

Thank for your response  ( excuse my clumsy English )

Yes if it is an innerspring type it might do a good job of blocking the signal.  I have chicken wire on a wall to help hold cement and nothing gets through that.  Read about Faraday Cage.

No, I have tried with an other notebook, in different places, it works everywhere , even at 40  meters  ; problem comes from one special notebook, and it receives the signal in some places and not in other places

Have I something to update ( it's an Acer, normally it works very well and receives wi fi signal but in three places where my other notebook receives  the signal; it doesn't  ) ?

No material problem in this notebook

No to what?  If trouble in one specific room your signal would appear to be attunatuated enough for that computer to not be able to use it.  Not all computers are equal.  So a new Wi-Fi or moving current unit (or even antennas on it) might solve your issue.  But if you have a mattress on the wall (will not even ask) moving that might be a good first check to see if it helps.  Even the way you point the notebook might make a difference.  Would suggest you download Android app below to one of your phones and check signal quality/strength in various locations.  Works well and easy to use.

Microwaves are strange things.

They are attenuated by the medium they encounter, and are even bent by temperature inversions in the atmosphere.

Sometimes line of sight between the transmitting source and the receiving antenna doesn't provide the maximum signal strength, and getting a 'bounce' of a building may supply a better signal.

Microwave signals fade in and out, due to atmospheric conditions, and you may have a strong signal at a location most of the time, but not at other times.

The best way to fix any signal problem is to have a good aerial with a high gain. You can buy these on the net with a outside dipole antenna connected to a dongle and your computer.

Remember that if your signal drops by 3 db, this means you have dropped the power by 50%.

Moving the mattress may make a difference, but you need a better signal.

I think we can stop here, after trying with an other notebook in every room in the house, with or without mattress, I am sure it comes from the notebook, not from my modem ; every other items works normally, there is just something wrong ( but not completely wrong because in the room close to the bedroom, Internet is  normal ) with this notebook but we can still use it , just go to the room next door

thanks for your help
