Problem downloading torrents from TVChaos UK: HTTP error 403

Featured Replies

Hi

I started having a problem with torrents from TV Chaos UK on Friday evening. All torrents are showing 'HTTP Error 403' and therefore will not connect.

I hadn't changed any settings nor changed my utorrent program so it's a bit of a mystery as to why it's happening. I also need to confirm I'm not a robot through CAPTCHA each time I go to their website, which I didn't have to do before.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? Anyone know of a solution?

I've also been seeking help in their forum and have tried the following from suggestions there:

+ reset the modem

+ clearing cookies associated with the website

+ changing http to hxxp in the tracker announce

I'm not using a VPN. Another torrent site which I regularly use is working o.k. I use True cable as my ISP.

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to reply rhythmworx - perhaps we should just have this thread closed then.

403 errors have nothing to do with illegal content. The error refers to access permissions at the server level.

Usually seeing such errors on a site/page one has previously used just means that something is temporarily out of order, and waiting a few hours will probably see it fixed.

The MIB will not be calling round to pursue the matter.

Cheers KittenKong.....I'll wait a little longer.

which version of utorrent are you using? tvchaos blocks certain versions. 2.2.1 seems to be the version they like.

Hi JaiMaai

Good thought but I'm using a compatible version of utorrent - 1.8.2

Thanks for the suggestion

Just checked the site.

All works as normal, downloaded a couple of programmes without any problems.

Thanks Ginkas

I've got a feeling it's something to do with my specific connection. Tried rebooting/resetting my modem as one of the options to get a new IP address but that didn't work.

I'll just keep being patient.

What? Downloaded a file? That is highly illegal.

Thanks Crossy.....I'm still trying other options. I'll report back when/if I find a solution.

Rather than posting here, why not use the TVChaos forums?  Far more likely to be au fait with any problems in this area.

Cheers Phuket Man and Oxx.

Phuket Man, I think the client is o.k. but thanks for the suggestion'.

Oxx, I've asked in their forum too but no solution from suggestions there yet. I thought it might be a Thailand specific problem and that's why I posted here also.

Thanks to you both.

How do you get an invite code? I used to have an account with the The Box before that closed. The interface looks just like it. Are the same people behind it.

Just want to report that as suddenly as my problem came it has now disappeared.

I did contact the ISP and they changed my IP address, so perhaps that had something to do with it but I can't be sure.

Thanks for those of you who offered suggestions. Very much appreciated.

Best regards
