Retirement O-A Multi Visa

Featured Replies

I am an American staying in Chiang Mai on an O-A multi-entry retirement visa issued in USA. I am contemplating to apply for a new O-A Visa in NYC/DC next year instead of applying for an extension here in Thailand since I've frequent overseas projects. In addition, I'm skeptical moving my money to Thailand, queue at 4am for retirement extension, 90 day reports, etc. Also, I'm aware there're agents but are they really helpful?

For my last medical report the doctor issued copy that was rejected which delayed my application. Can someone suggest a clinic/doctor in NYC/DC to process same day medical report?

You are aware 90 day reports must be made if you stay in country more than 90 days regardless of it being an extension from immigration here or a one year entry permitted to stay from a visa?

You are aware any entry on such a O-A visa gets a one year stay - so an entry on the last day of validity would still allow a one year stay from that date - so almost 2 years can be obtained from one visa for many people?   Entry after validity of visa would just require a re-entry permit prior to leaving.

What is the "enter before" date on your visa?  You can obtain a second year permission to stay on an O-A visa by leaving and re-entering the country just prior to the "enter before" date since you are stamped in for one year each time you leave/return during the first year.

Could you elaborate? The medical statement is pro forma, merely having your doctor state you don't have any of the weird diseases mentioned on the downloaded (from the Thai Consulate) form. Did he leave off his required medical license number --  or what? Fortunately, my long time GP knew my medical history, and thus didn't bother to require expensive medical exams to see whether or not my expanding beer belly was actually elephantiasis. However, dealing with a doctor unfamiliar with your history, without tests, probably is difficult -- unless you can find a quack -- or can provide him a recent medical history.

This is the the Medical O-A form from Thai Embassy WashDC -- in Thai and English. Can the medical report be done by a doctor in Thailand for WashDC?

I wouldn't think it couldn't. It just has to be current within 3 months. Maybe an option for the OP....

They don't state you can't use one from here on their website but the MFA website states the following. Best to ask them about it.

A medical certificate issued from the country where the application is submitted, showing no prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No.14 (B.E. 2535) (certificate shall be valid for not more than three months and should be notarised by notary organs or the applicant’s diplomatic or consular mission).

That's rather confusing as, for example, an Australian in Australia doesn't have " a diplomatic or consular mission" ...

Not if you read the previous posts.

The form on the site for downloading retirement visa forms for the Thai Consulate in Sydney merely asks for the doctor's medical registration number http://thaiconsulatesydney.sparemart.com/Home/ListForms
