November 29, 20169 yr I recently renewed my UK passport and have been to Immigration and had my visa, extension of stay, multiple re-entry permit etc transferred. As my passport number is now different to the one shown on my 5 year Thai Driving License do I need to go to the Transport Office and get it updated? My current License has several years before it expires. Thanks for any advice. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect

November 29, 20169 yr Author Thanks Roo860, Did you replace your License when you got your new passport or did you wait for your License to expire first? Just thinking I should not wait for several years to do this as my passport number on my License is now different to my actual passport number? Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect

November 29, 20169 yr My recommendation is to get the Thai DL updated with the new passport number as soon as convenient. It's a 10 minute job at most provincial DLT offices.
November 29, 20169 yr In Phuket everything is a hassle to the transport department, i intend to wait until my driving licenses are due for renewal before changing to my new passport number and getting it all done at the same time

But I agree, I have not done this in the past and don't intend to do this in the future. Hassle for nothing.
December 7, 20169 yr Author I was passing the Pranburi transport office today so thought I would pop in. I was advised that a new Driving License with my new passport number on it would be 255 THB. I asked if I needed to update my new license with my new passport number and was told I did not need to do this until my license expires. They went on to tell me that if the Police question it (how would they know I had a new passport from my driving license?) I just need to show them my old and new passport. As my current license has several years to run I will wait for it to expire. Thought you would all be interested to know what the transport office said. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
December 7, 20169 yr Also in Phuket this is easy. But I agree, I have not done this in the past and don't intend to do this in the future. Hassle for nothing.I have done this earlier this year in Phuket and took not much than 15 minutes for the 2 DL (motorbike and car). I was also told by DL office that it was not necessary. I did it because earlier, I was opening a new bank account and as they asked me if I had Thai DL (don't ask why...), they found out that the passport number was not matching with the actual passport..It cost 200 THB something per licence.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Up to one year after expiry you can renew with just doing the physical tests (color blindness, peripheral viewing, reaction test). Physical tests are required for every renewal.
