Thank you for all the replies... seems that the only direct bus will be Yellow Bus and the timings are not very desirable to me. All of them travel late at night and reaches way too early in the morning. I guess I have to go for the Hua hin ---> Pattaya options 10am - 4pm and take a taxi to Rayong.

You could take a minibus to BKK and then change at the station to go to Rayong

 

3 hours to BKK and then 3.5 to Rayong, the buses normally stop at Ban Phe

 

If you decide to go to Pattaya first there are also minibuses that run to Ban Phe from there, takes about a hour or so,
