89.5 FM off the air.

Featured Replies

Does anyone know why?

Usually listen to it on my iPod whilst pretending to do some gardening.

Not there today.

Seemed to go off air just after the death of HM. Thought it was part of the 30 day ban on entertainment. Just a couple of days I found one of the English channels back on air while driving the car.

Yes, when I drive to Patong I always turn on the car radio and 89.5 was there (at last) but not yesterday and not today. I don't know how these radio station can survive commercially.

89.5 and 90.5 the English language radio stations are both of the air, maybe they have been naughty in their broadcasts again

And need re educating

And what do you think re educating is

I have had 89.5FM this whole week.  But the broadcast was intermittent.  Furthermore, they have reused canned news, especially the Asean news this whole week was the same "clip" from last week.  Was very painful to the ears.

I agree ... I drove out to Patong about 11.00 ... nothing. I drove back to Kata about 15.00  ... had poor signal level canned music on 89.5.

I used to frequent one of the Starbucks coffee shops, one of the other regular customers at the time was a member of the 89.5FM news editorial team. I found it quite amusing that this news editor used to keep up to date with all the latest news by reading the one/two day old newspapers available in Starbucks. One of the good things about 89.5FM was that if you missed a BBC world news bulletin you could always catch up with it when it was repeated the following day.

It is still happening today!  It is not only re-cycled canned news.  Their DJs read weather forecast from different sources and they can be very different.
