Christmas at Phuket Immigration - Absolutely relaxed

I just did my retirement extension in Phuket. My idea was that on Christmas day not too many people would be there. Arrived at the office about 12:35, right in time to fill out one form "Acknowledgement of Terms...". It was just three of us waiting for the end of lunch break. Exactly at 13:00 we were given queue numbers, I got the 3. We were asked to come in (the new room on ground floor). I had prepared

- Passport copies, including TM Card and Registration of Residence

- Bankbook copies

- Letter from the Bank

- Application form (completed, incl. picture, don't forget to write down your phone number)

- A (black & white) printout of two pictures of me in front of the house (I have a b&w laser printer)

- A printout of HERE maps of the location of the house. The house was marked with a cross over it. (I am not sure if this was required, but it made the officer happy.) Google Maps might work as well, but on GM the roads are not marked clearly.

- 1900 Baht

While Number 1 had to do his copies of the bankbook (the copies of the credit card were of no interest), Number 2 was done already. It was my turn at about 13:15. A short look over the documents, and the officer began to stamp the passport. I got my 100 Baht change and was asked to wait a moment and sit for a photo. The trainee took a picture and handed me the receipt. "Please come back tomorrow at 13:00 to pick up your passport."

Everything done and dusted about 13:20. Everybody was relaxed and in good mood, and I was happy to have chosen this day for my extension. As always, it might have helped that all of us applicants were wearing polite clothes, nobody was rushing anyone, and nobody raised the voice. After the three of us were through the whole procedure, there was no queue and it looked like a good coffee break for the officers.

This was one of the best days on the Immigration Office I had in the last 20 years.

Same with me on Thursday 22nd Dec. Thought I would go about 10.45 and get a number for the afternoon session for my extensioon. No volunteer, an IO checking papers outside. 3 folks in front and one had to get copies so in just a few minutes I was in front. 2 new forms to be filled, one about must notify change of address and the other to certify the photo of me in front of house.  I never got a number, just called to be processed. Much to my surprise I was finished by 11.30 and told to come back next day at 13.00. Next day at 13.00 (Friday) really few people waiting (maybe 3), I was in and out in about one minute.

Edit - I did not supply any location map.

Somehow I don't think it was Christmas Day as it was a Sunday and they are not open. The calendar police are on patrol here. 555 Phuket Immigration is very nice and smooth for most things.

I went to Phuket Immigration this afternoon to do my 90-day reporting.  Approached the volunteer officer for a Q-number and was told the photocopies were not necessary (for today).  Arrived at 2.15pm and out at 2.30pm.  Easy breezy!
