THAIPHUKET Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Got sick of rearranging ever so often my desktop. Must be these sneaky W10 updates. I disabled W10 in Settings under Administrative Services. W'll see. But I remember ages ago there was a program which allowed to put Fences/Frames around specific Desktop icons. Is there another option of grouping various items?
raro Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I went Linux for that and some other reasons. Mint 18.1 and will never go back. Sent from my ASUS_Z00LD using Thaivisa Connect mobile app
Pib Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Not 100% sure exactly what the OP means by his desktop rearranging, but if he means the icons moving around, maybe it's because his Desktop icon alignment setting is set to Auto. Go to your desktop, right click, select View, and then see if the Auto Arrange Icons selection is checked. If so, uncheck it and adjust other settings in the View selection to whatever your desire.
THAIPHUKET Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 No Auto Arrange was set and yet...... I tried the option to give every Icon a shortcut on dragged the corresponding file into Documents, etc. Not optimistic because while I was rearranging the desktop some undesired re-allocation of the Icon occurred.
howto Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 good app for saving desktop icon placements... DesktopOK http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/desktopok.html works well.
jacnl2000 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 IconRestorer 1.0.8.1 SR1 is another well working option.
