Many places have Chinese New Year celebrations and parades during normal years, but with the King's passing I expect celebrations will be low key this year.

Thanks Pib, I meant to say "the only place in this area" outside of Bangkok of course. I regularly used to be told that Nakhon Sawan has the largest percentage of Thai Chinese in the country, but most local towns possibly have almost as many.

Well tonight is the big night here. And then something tomorrow daytime.

Not much sign of anything low key either going by the levels of practice and preparation over the last several weeks.

Not a sausage going on in K.P.P even though we have a very large Chinese community as well.

Most shops seem to have closed up and gone on holiday. Even the Chinese Restaurant's have closed??? Must be the busiest time of the year for them. Oh well TIT I suppose, must have too much monies.

Sorry for the late reply H/M only looks at TV once ever week or so now, to busy having a life.

Sorry to say Rott that you wont find to much knowledge/wisdom on TV. It now seems full of peeps trying to outdo others by getting yet more posts under their name. Most are as usual complete rubbish.

Even shopping, picking your nose 'a Thai trait allegedly' is an improvement life wise than trying to find any enlightenment on TV.

Fred, Fred you need to start drinking earlier, this is not the happy-go-lucky yet philoosophical message we normally get from you.

For the record the parade was very impressive, though I missed the one yesterday morning.

Funny you should mention shopping, BigC2 where I mainly go is so quiet it is a pleasure to be there. Once the staff from the bread and fruit and veg sections lined up to greet me, and frequently a young lady would hold the bags for me while I selected potatoes, onions and tomatoes. you would not get that in Liverpool. Or the East End.

I think that this morning I have actually found some enlightenment. A friendly discussion on Scottish Independence has thrown up the following facts:-

Budgeted Scottish Oil Revenue GBP 6.8 billion to 7.9 billion.

Actual Scottish Oil Revenue GBP 60 million

Nobody appears to be arguing so it could well be true, if difficult to believe. Perhaps everybody else is already aware of this and I am the last to know.

Rott and everyone's info H/M doesn't drink well except Tea. Not tea total I do enjoy a beer on the odd occasion. Had a can only last night was one of the ones that a local Thai lady gave me for Christmas. Still have two left from the pack of six.

Don't get the service that you get in Big C or Makro come to that.

Might be that H/M complains a tad to much. A couple of weeks ago I was in the latter K.P.P one.  Trolley filled time to check out. As H/M arrived at the till's two closed leaving 3 open the cues soon started to build up and I could see that I would be there for some time. Over to the desk and asked politely if they would open more. This was met by a smile and no action. 10 minutes later I wheeled my trolley to the desk and told them that I was not waiting any longer and they could take their produce to where I had obtained same.

Whatever I do get a salute from the security peeps as I go in.

I don't think you should worry about the Scotts peeps. They will never listen to the two fish's and go for independence. One thing for sure is that they the Scott's are not stupid. Whatever it doesn't sound to good regards the figures that you quoted.

Regards the Thai parades one has seen many much to often. I do like to miss if I can have found them a tad to noisy. We have very good ones here in K.P.P. One of the best is the Banana festival. H/M does have a gander at that, the float that has the Miss Banana Ladies on is a real treat.

N/B. Mrs H/M doesn't enter that anymore I think she has got a trite displeased with coming last every time.

Update on above.

Looks like I'm not welcome in Global house K.P.P either.

Have just been in their store for a new plug for the sink in the utility room. I had already guessed that I would have to change part of the waste. So had taken it with me just to make sure that the fitments were correct.

On the way in a plonker that works there asked to see what I had in the bag 'Fair enough'

I did tell him in Thai that it was an old one and I needed it as a copy. After several minutes looking at the bits unscrewing and screwing them back again. He walked off with my bag for what I don't know. By this time H/M was getting a bit annoyed.

So went after him to get afore mentioned goodies back. This I managed to do by just grabbing the bag from him. I then walking off in the direction of where the new goodies were situated.

Having sorted out what was required from a very nice lady off I went back to pay.

Having done so up wells The Plonker yet again, and has to look at the new lot of goodies I had purchased as they do. Also fair enough. But he should have checked the receipt as well, did he do so NO. He gave that to another man who walked off with it to sort out another customer. By this time I was getting a tad irate. So just walked out leaving both Plonker's in there Muttering in a loud voice what a lot of Wan/ers they all were. The one with the receipt came running after me and explained that the other one couldn't read Thai.

I ask you what's the good of having someone on the door if they cant read Thai.

Well done Global House K.P.P full marks. H/M shall be rushing back.

Perhaps I am better off not having a life, could not be doing with all the aggravation.

Lets see, walked down to get the "Post", (stroked the dog from the hairdressing supplies shop on the way) went to Vitteethep Supermarket got apples, boiled ham and bread, asked the two giggly, fit young ladies at the till if they were movie stars, got a mouthful in response but I am sure there was a flutter of the eyelids there. On the way back got four assorted biros from a stationery shop and the old dear at the till tested them individually for me before charging me 28 baht. Closer to home two ladies and a katoey in a hairdressers in the soi asked what I had been buying, I waved the bag at them and said Viagra. They just nodded. Came back took the dogs out for an hour. Had a kip. Haven't offended anyone but the day is not done yet.

Not out for a drink till Friday, need a few days off it.

Now let me get this correct. You WALKED down to get your post.

Don't you have a delivery in N/Smog???

It seems that your life is working out just fine Chatting up Katoey's whilst wondering about the town obtaining pens and the likes.

No doubt things will improve keep up the good work. You might with a bit of luck 'as time goes by' find at least one peeps to have a moan at.

Whatever anything's got to be a lot better that trying to find sensible posts on TV now.

Message to the Mod's. I don't know if you have noticed but we used to have some Nice educated peeps on this section most have now stopped posting. Might be time to stop the post chasers that mostly put on drivel. Then with a bit of luck they might come back. Sorry about that but facts are the facts.

Not going to name any I did get bared sometime ago for telling peeps that they were plonkers.

Not that it matters now as I don't post or look that often anyway.

K/S. I am as bad as some people think I am, and don't suffer idiots gladly.

My G/L say's I should learn to live with how it is here. Still trying to do that but it's not easy.

Held my nerve the other week when we were in Chang Mai on our anual fishing trip with the lads.

Out for the evening meal we had decided to go to a Thai owned place, that sold/cooked all sorts.

H/M ordered Masamam Pork Curry. What was served was about as mush akin to a Pork Masamam as fish and chips. To start it was Chicken, & in a yellow curry sauce it did have some nut's in it but not peanuts. Their egg fried rice was very good so come to that was the yellow curry in fact Delish but I didn't order that.

Spoke to the lady afterwards and asked her why she had dished up same.

Reply. Well you look like tourists and they don't know the difference, so I can serve up what I want. She continued if we wanted it correct next time just ask. H/M found it very funny. More like a Monty Python sketch. No need to ask if we rushed back.

Glad to hear Rott that you do get your post delivered. Just thought it might be that the pot holes in the Soi's that abound there, had stopped the post man getting through. You can look at the BKK post on the internet don't you know. Only a problem if you want to do the crossword.

Monday to Friday that's out of the Evening Standard. English paper for those that don't know.

From where I live if I walked to pick up the Post at the newsstand, they would probably find me lying on the side of the road as it's 12 kilometers.  If I did make it, it wouldn't matter as they have no English newspapers.  If I want it I have to order it in advance.  The post office does deliver here about once a week but they still leave the mail at my wife's restaurant in the village which is now run by by niece and delivery from there is hit and miss, normally a miss as she is as hair-brained as I am forgetful.

But being forgetful isn't that bad as I never see any reruns on True Visions that everybody is complaining about and I never eat any leftovers!

K/S thanks for the heads up but H/M does like to keep out of western type places when out and about. To many tourists. One of the reasons I moved to K.P.P in the first place. Although the locals do drive me crazy at time's, better that than having to sit next to the I know it all peeps. That you seem to get in tourist places.

Did find a fare Indian just off the market, food was very good although they did miss off one of the pickles that was ordered (Not the end of the world) Sorry don't know the name. It was full of the afore mentioned Indians good sign, very few tourists another Joy.

Nice to see your still going Wayne after your 1 day and 10min: red card. And may I add welcome back.

As post seem to be a topic just now. We had a delivery at 11am from them today. A Sunday. The G/L Sister had sent her some goodies from BKK.

As usual H/M only gets bills, but living in hopes that one day there will be a nice surprise for one. Now where's my Buddha charm.

Just had a thought K/S. Is the Soi the one that has B/King on one corner and Big Mick on the other.

If that's the case then the Indian is in the same Soi some 100mt on the right. By the way they don't sell beer, but they do have a bar opposite that will deliver. Their menu is on the tables. We stuck to water. There what did I tell you I don't drink much.

Nothing to do with the fact that I'm a cheap Charley.

Yes the soi off night bazaar road with a Chin temple,  don't remember seeing an Indian restaurant though.

l only know of the Indian restaurant inside where market stalls are.

I stay near there in Lannathai guesthouse when in CM.

I treat myself to a meal in Red Lion because l like draught Guinness, can't get it where l live.

Come to think of it could be in the next Soi up.

Leaving B/King on your right and walking up the market it's the next one on your right. Has a big middle east restaurant upstairs on the left.

Have just looked at the map and it could be Chareprathet lane 6 Alley

How it can be an alley and a lane who knows but there you go TIT.

Also looked up your Guest house looks nice. Question is it quiet?

We stayed at the Vipa house guest house bit further up. Can recommend that as well. Quiet Soi nice peeps running it.

H/M did ask one of the young ladies that's works there if she would like my phone No:

Reply yes provided it came with my Bank account details.

Humour I don't think it was humour think she meant it. Must be loosing my touch.

I was with Kelboy he's one of the fishing lads, called in yesterday with his new 500cc Honda.

Bit to powerful for me now, but nice all the same.

I'll stick to the Limo with it's air con: or the wife's 125 Honda M/C

35c here today so has been the Limo.

He was the one that suggested the Vipa House.

Must say he never woke me up as he returned in the morning hours. He also captured the biggest fish "allegedly" and ended up with all the bet monies. Dash pore show.
