troyhaa Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Hey Im looking at renting a car in Phuket and have been sent an insurance policy. Was just wondering if someone can advise if it is in fact FIRST CLASS insurance. What do I need to look for to ensure the coverage I receive in in fact FIRST class. I want coverage for our and the other vechile/motorbike if I have an AT FAULT accident. I am told by the rent car company it is First Class but I am unsure what to exactly look for. Thanks everyone
carlyai Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 AIG is a big company. They should give you a copy in English as well. My houses, car etc insurance policy have a copy in Thai and English. To me it appears to be first class as the number is '1' and the liability for accident is B 1000000.Sent from my SM-J700F using Tapatalk
stevenl Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 As you can see in the policy, you have own damage cover due to accident. Therefor 1st class.
madmax2 Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 I do not know the rules in Thailand but in Australia even if you pay extra for full insurance cover on a rental vehicle there is still a payment required from the renter if you are involved in a accident Last time i rented in Australia the payment was reduced to $400 from $3000 by paying a extra insurance premium
troyhaa Posted February 9, 2017 Author Posted February 9, 2017 Excuse my ignorance. This will cover repairs to the others motor vechile or motorbike?

I was more concerned about coverage for the other parties damage

Yes, fully comprehensive or first class insurance as they call it here covers all vehicles involved in a accident if you are in the wrong, also bail money if its required DUI in Australia makes the policy null and void, which means you pay not the insurance company Probably the same rule applies here
stevenl Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 One thing though, I can not see what kind of policy it is: private vehicle or rental vehicle. I get the impression it is a cover for a private vehicle, so if in an accident and the insurance company gets to know it was a rental they could refuse cover. Correction, just see it is a fleet cover, so you're ok.
troyhaa Posted February 9, 2017 Author Posted February 9, 2017 Thanks everyone for your responses. I can go ahead and book the car with confidence knowing that I will be fully covered in the case of an at fault accident providing We are under the legal BAC in Thailand. Top notch.
