Prachuap Khiri Khan warns tourists against strong winds and waves

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 14 February 2017 (NNT) – The general public and tourists in Prachuap Khiri Khan province have been warned against the dangers of strong wave and winds prevailing in the Gulf of Thailand during this period.

The influence of the northeastern monsoon prevailing over the Gulf of Thailand and southern Thailand has intensified over the past several days, bringing strong waves and gusts of winds to Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

Waves at Prachuap Khiri Khan Bay in Muang Prachuap Khiri Khan district are expected to be 2-4 meters high. The local fishermen have been forced to remain ashore for a second consecutive day.

Authorities advise kite surfers to cautious of weather hazards, after a kite surfer was injured while surfing in the Gulf of Prachup Khiri Khan.

Prachuap Khiri Khan has issued a warning to people residing in the coastal areas against strong waves, which is expected to continue until 16 February. Tourists and the local public are advised to strictly follow officials' instructions and remain ashore if a red flag warning sign is placed at the beach.
