China Southern to LAX

Featured Replies

So, I just booked myself a Business Class ticket from BKK-LAX on China Southern. Significantly cheaper than my usual preferred carriers. Anyone got any comments on the service, given the fact that it is only 20 hours of your life, not death!

I've flown with them a few times.  They are OK.  And with biz class, even better!

That's good to know. From the pics and reviews it looks OK. I kinda figured that the fact that the CAN-LAX segment was on a basically brand new A380 how bad could it be?

I lived in China for many years and was kinda jaundiced having flown many internal China flights on China Eastern

I have used China Southern a number of times on longhaul in economy. They are fine, no better, no worse than the competitors

Thanks guys. They are just so much cheaper than anyone else at the moment it gave me pause to think. On the plus side, unlike almost everyone else they give a no fee change booking or refund, which made me a little happier while I got users opinions

You may want to read Lucky's entertaining blog post about China Southern ;-)

He is probably the most followed aviation blogger worldwide:

Thanks, I read it, wasn't terrible pretty much what I was thinking. To put this in perspective, it's 19 hours of your life, but they are nearly $1000 cheaper than ANA, who I love, but honestly just having a business class flat bed is all I really want.

So I'm going for it, should they implode in the next few months I can still cancel

yeah you definitely should not cancel it, I would not cancel myself either. 1.000$ is a substantial saving. That I posted that trip report by Lucky was not meant to make you cancel. I did fly several not-so-popular airlines (RJ, AI, UL) in C-class, as their C-class tickets were not more expensive than 5-star-airlines (CX, SQ, LH) in Premium economy and would do the same thing again with no hesitation.

I enjoyed my flight on a 787 from SFO, no fault, great steak in Biz,Had to go thru Wuhan, <deleted> Terminal had Lounge, nothing edible, Chinese Immigration wanted to see Booking on Internet, luckily I took a picture of itinerary, food from Wuhan to BKK inedible, going thru Canton on way back, should.be better, I hope, would do it again, about 7 ft. From back of chair to tv, should have brought Opera glasses, lay flat beds, on way back 777, I paid $2500 RT
