Actually there's a 1 year SIM validity after each load ?

Hello,

 

I would like a SIM with long validity & roaming option, because I'll use banking of BKK Bank as I need to receive OTP confirmation I would like to know the best SIM which have a long validity & have a roaming option.

payg sims normally have a short validity, my ais you get a month with each 100 baht top up, but you can pay 30 baht for a further 30 days, which also includes 30 minutes of free calls within 5 days

It all depends on which plan you are on. I am on DTAC's pre-paid "Happy simple" plan, and every time I top up the validity is extended to one year from the top up date (no matter what amount I top up with). The downside is that the cost of calling is 2 Baht/minute, which I don't mind as I basically only use the phone for emergencies and too receive SMS'es from internet banking.

 

I have been on the "simple" plan for quite a few years now, so it might not be possible for new customers to select that plan any more.

All three service providers offer international roaming; you will have to proactively request that IR is activated on your SIM. IN most cases you can enable this via USSD/SMS, IVR, web, call center and mobile app interfaces.

 

12 month expiry, which is the maximum, is a topic which comes up here very few days.

 

Some providers allow customers to purchase extended expiry, often in the 2 baht/30 days range.

 

Or you can simply make twelve (12) individual, separate 10 baht top-ups (12 baht with the 2 baht fee) at a top-up machine, so you get 120 baht credit, 360 days expiry all for 144 baht (so the same 24 baht "fee").

 

Some SIMs/providers may have a 90 day usage requirement.

yes AIS has had a serious policy change after using them for well over 7 years I topped up recently only to find my 500baht expires in 5 months, I don't use voice that often as there are other options, were as before it was a year, rather stupid idea and have learned my lesson and yes a 20baht topup gets another 30 days but not sure how to top up 20baht

i think its 30 baht, (taken from credit) but includes 30 baht of free calls within 5 days -    *500*9# call

Or if you really need the maximum 365 days you can add 30 days on top of the two 180 day "extensions" for a total of 26 Baht.

In my experience with DTAC you don't need to pay a specific fee as above. On mine and the little womans DTAC Pre-Pay SIMs (registered & not tourist SIMs) a 10 Baht minimum top up extends validity for a month up to a maximum of 12 months. We've both kept the same numbers now for 4 or 5 years.

You've got to find an AIS top up machine every 20 baht gives you 30 days extra, if your in Bangkok theres a one in Terminal 21 at the AIS shop.

You can also do 20 baht top ups on the Kasikorn K-Mobile app for AIS, giving you 30 days extension for each 20 baht top up.

thx guys, I honestly wish they had left it alone, when I was in the IS shop getting my sim changed for 4G capability they said customers can pay 300baht for 12 months also

 

I don't use Kbank just Bangkok bank and minimum topup is 50baht
