Danielsiam Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Hello, I would like a SIM with long validity & roaming option, because I'll use banking of BKK Bank as I need to receive OTP confirmation I would like to know the best SIM which have a long validity & have a roaming option. Thanks
steve187 Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 payg sims normally have a short validity, my ais you get a month with each 100 baht top up, but you can pay 30 baht for a further 30 days, which also includes 30 minutes of free calls within 5 days
Sophon Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 (edited) It all depends on which plan you are on. I am on DTAC's pre-paid "Happy simple" plan, and every time I top up the validity is extended to one year from the top up date (no matter what amount I top up with). The downside is that the cost of calling is 2 Baht/minute, which I don't mind as I basically only use the phone for emergencies and too receive SMS'es from internet banking. I have been on the "simple" plan for quite a few years now, so it might not be possible for new customers to select that plan any more. Sophon Edited March 5, 2017 by Sophon
mtls2005 Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 All three service providers offer international roaming; you will have to proactively request that IR is activated on your SIM. IN most cases you can enable this via USSD/SMS, IVR, web, call center and mobile app interfaces. 12 month expiry, which is the maximum, is a topic which comes up here very few days. Some providers allow customers to purchase extended expiry, often in the 2 baht/30 days range. Or you can simply make twelve (12) individual, separate 10 baht top-ups (12 baht with the 2 baht fee) at a top-up machine, so you get 120 baht credit, 360 days expiry all for 144 baht (so the same 24 baht "fee"). Some SIMs/providers may have a 90 day usage requirement.

surat04 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Dtac has a 1year extention option. https://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/products/tourist-packages.htmlSent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Thaivisa Connect mobile app
Langsuan Man Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Yes but if you are smart use the Jaidee Day Give-away available here https://my.dtac.co.th/esv/en/dayGiveAway I'll give up 5 days validity to save 76 THB

mtls2005 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I think the DTAC 100 baht offer applies only to their "Tourist" SIMs. No clue if it can be applied to any SIM/plan/ackage/promotion? https://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/products/tourist-packages.html The DTAC day give away service may have some requirements re: exiting balance of at least 200 baht and being a customer in good standing for at least 90 days (although this 90 thing is no longer in the terms). https://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/services/jai-dee.html Application instructions Direct number (USSD) press *113 *desired extension days (30/90/180 days) *9# Automated reply system IVR dial *100 Automated reply system IVR dial *1013 mydtac eService Service rates 2 THB service fee for 30 day extension 6 THB service fee for 90 day extension 12 THB service fee for 180 day extension Service rates above are VAT inclusive. System will send notification SMS upon successful service activation, Service terms and conditions Customers must have accumulated service usage of at least 200 THB and remain active status with at least 1 day of usage credit balance on service activation date. Customers can accumulate usage days up to 365 days after service usage. Customers that previously use this service must return borrowed amount and service fees and there is no outstanding debt before this service usage.Service Provider reserves the right to cancel service if customers do not make or receive calls for 3 months after service application. One can make top-ups of as little as 10 baht (12 baht with the 2 baht fee, no fee for top-ups of 100 baht or more - there are some promotions/bonuses which may off-set this fee), each of which yields an additional 30 days expiry on most SIMs/plans/promotions. So 12 individual top-ups cost 144 baht, gie 120 baht credit and yield 360 days expiry. These machines are everywhere, have an English UI option and are easy to use.

On mine and the little womans DTAC Pre-Pay SIMs (registered & not tourist SIMs) a 10 Baht minimum top up extends validity for a month up to a maximum of 12 months. We've both kept the same numbers now for 4 or 5 years. Andrew PS. I notice now that you don't get free WiFi (not that DTACs WiFi coverage is much other than major malls) when you subscribe to a data package.

smedly Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 thx guys, I honestly wish they had left it alone, when I was in the IS shop getting my sim changed for 4G capability they said customers can pay 300baht for 12 months also I don't use Kbank just Bangkok bank and minimum topup is 50baht
mtls2005 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 All three service providers have their own dedicated kiosks, some free-standing others within larger full-service shops. I think all allow for pre-paid top-ups, with a minimum of 10 baht, which adds 30 days. No fee.
