A fraudster in Suphanburi believed in doing things big.

The former head of a well know insurance company, she arranged an elaborate hoax to con gullible villagers in Suphanburi, Ang Thong and Ayuthaya out of insurance money.

Siriporn Suphatrathee, 48, claimed she won 60 million baht in the lottery at the end of December. She organized a free concert to "celebrate" her win and gain the confidence of thousands.

One of Thailand's most iconic and famous singers - At Carabao - was invited to perform.

All the time the money rolled in for Siriporn who was running a life insurance scam in the three provinces. But she had never won the lottery.

And her offers of high interest and lump sum payments were just lies.

Yesterday a team of police and soldiers arrested her for fraud. Losses are thought to run into 100s of millions of baht.
