I am hoping someone can give me a definite answer, how far ahead of expiration can I renew my 5 year driver licenses?

I have been told up to 6 months ahead but got a totally different story when I hit the LTO at Soi 62 in Bangkok. I am headed stateside soon and need to get this done before I leave or be in a crunch when I return.

Thanks in advance,

Many threads on this,  how long ya gone for.

l believe you have up to 1 year to renew a Thai 5 year DL after it expires.

Dunno about renewal before expire date if that's what you mean.

went today to Rayong in the afternoon, wife spoke to the information desk, and can renew up to 3 months early, i did not get mine today, as you have to go early in the morning and get a queue ticked before they all go.

Never heard such a number.

3 months was also what I picked up somewhere.

How long will you be away?

You have one year after expiry to renew without extra effort.

In Loei only 90 days, so best ask your local one before assuming they all obey the same rules
