Parents urged to keep kids indoors during haze

BANGKOK: -- The Public Health Ministry has warned parents living in haze-affected areas to keep children indoors.

 

The Ministry’s Department of Health said there were health risks associated with exposing children to a high level of small particulate matter of up to 10 microns in diameter (PM10). 

 

Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nan and Mae Hong Son provinces have implemented a 60-day ban of outdoor burning and forest fires until mid-April.

Maybe its a trap to get us old farts out there and spend money.??

Like a ban is going to stop anybody....SSDD, and TIT.

 

And fat lot of difference it's going to make by keeping the kids inside. They will still get the same pollution levels inside their rickety homes one would think.... but at least they won't be able to start the fires!

 

Maybe that's the aim?

 

Nothing changes fast in relation to the burning season.

Unless a home has it`s doors, windows and ceilings completely sealed with air con and air purifiers running 24 hours a day, then the air quality inside the home will be almost as bad as it is outside the home. According to the report; we can all expect to be choked to death from mid April.

There are health risks for everyone, risks which would be substantially reduced if the authorities did their job and enforced a full-time ban on slash-burn.

You are optimistically assuming that the ban will be rigidly enforced up until mid-April.

Everything's relative ... especially in LoS.

If just staying inside doesn't work, try hiding under a desk.  Works for nuclear attack, ought to work for haze.
