LAMPANG: -- The level of potentially dangerous airborne particle matter in Lampang, Mae Hong Son and Tak provinces rose beyond the safe limit on Thursday morning, according to the Pollution Control Department.

As of 8am, PM10 levels at Mae Mo district’s Tambon Ban Dong (Lampang) and Muang district’s Tambon Phra Baht (Lampang) were 196 and 125 micrograms per cubic metre respectively.

In Tambon Chong Kham in Mae Hong Son’s Muang district, the reading was 151mcg, and 141mcg at Tambon Mae Pa of Tak’s Mae Sot district.

As of 9am, Mae Mo reported 198mcgs, Muang Lampang 131mcg, Muang Mae Hong Son 145mcg and Mae Sot 149mcg.

A PM10 level exceeding 120mcg can affect people’s health.

"A PM10 level exceeding 120 mcg can affect people’s health"

Yeah in Thailand only. The rest of the world's standard is 60 mcg!

But then life in Thailand is cheaper.

PM 2.5 is rather more serious a health hazard than PM10, hence why it seems to often go unreported in Thailand. The smaller 2.5 particles penetrate deep into the lungs.
