Ok, online preorders confirmed.

I just had a chat with Samsung Thailand on Facebook.

Does the release of the S8 mean I should upgrade from my S4?  The S4 still does everything I need.

Indeed, I only just retired my S2, still did all I needed but was struggling anytime one of the major apps updated and I was needing to juggle memory to allow installation, plus it was getting slower as apps were demanding more of the phone.

Replaced it with a Huawei P9 - excellent phone which hopefully will see me good for another five years - maybe swap it then for a S13

Available now here. The SG7 had issues with the molten gold back easy to crack.

It doesn't affect the functionability of the phone just looks gross.

This was it before it had an accident.

Going from them to Apple was the best change I made.

You can touch and hold the S8, on display now at the Samsung and AIS shops in the Paragon. Supposedly the S8+ will be on display at Samsung tomorrow. You can preorder online now through the 23rd and available for sale to the general public on the 28th.

Really tempted to try the S8. Tried the S4 when I switched from Apple a few years back. Hated it after about 6 months. Switched back. Expensive mistake. Found a lot I liked about the S4 but too much that I just took for granted with iOS that I didn't realise I'd miss.

S8 seems a lot better. But these aren't cheap devices to trial. One bonus, unlike Apple, their price does drop after launch, quite significantly too. Just getting a bit bored with Apple again so might wait to see if the iPhone 8 offers (a much needed IMO) injection of innovation and if not maybe take the plunge again. The S8 should be available for 5-7 less than release price then.
