I have had a lot of problems with uTorrent (still can't get rid of uTorrent.exe) so decided to try QBittorrent instead. However I notice when I send a file to QBittorrent it asks where I want to send the file after it's downloaded, whereas uTorrent downloads direct to uTorrent and you can access it directly from there. Is that the way it should be? I hope I've made myself clear.

Hi giddyup, with QBittorrent you can easily tell it where to put your downloads. Open qTorrent, click on Tools and then Options from the drop-down.

When the Options box opens, Click on Downloads in the left-hand column. Where I have indicated below, select whatever folder and destination where you want your downloads to be saved.

Like you, I was having little problems with uTorrent (and bit torrent) and have been using the above for maybe 3 months now without a problem

Thanks for the help.

With uTorrent there's no need to save the files to another folder or destination, they can be opened and played in uTorrent itself.

Unless you were you using uTorrent's VIDEO STREAMING option to watch video files without downloading them, then either applications will SAVE the file somewhere on your computer. As @chrisinth posted, you need to set that location in QBittorrent Tools | Options | Downloads area.

Both applications also allow you to PREVIEW or VIEW torrents if enough of the file is available or has completed being downloaded.

Opposite problem, can't get QBittorent to work but have no problems with uTorrent

But like others have stated, I don't stream from my torrent application,  just copy and paste to USB stick for playing on a full size TV

I switched to Qbittorent maybe 2 years ago after many problems with uTorrent. Chasing those problems online always pointed to "use this particular older version" Qbittorrent has been trouble free.

I transfer to a stick as well, but in uTorrent I just click on the download and send it to the stick. In QBittorrent I have to click on the download, then open the destination folder, then open that before I send it to the stick, 2 steps extra.

I am sure everyone has a favorite. I use Vuze. It is pretty simple and intuitive in. Torrents will automatically upload to views when you click them. They begin downloading immediately. You can convert them to almost any playback format with a simple drag and drop. It is worth going for the paid "pro" versions if pop up ads make you crazy.

Yeah, I'm still stuck with uTorrent.exe that I can't get rid of.

uTorrent is awesome . Never problems with it . Hard to get rid of ? Haha ... I tested a few versions and they always uninstalled cleanly. It's a small program ... more like an app . Only one glitch : when I reset the 31 day history , screen flashes ... but since I'm still on XP , I may not be uT fault and I found a simple work around , so no problems. The only way that I would change is when they bring out anonimous ( encrypted) version so that IP's can't be seen.

I've had that problem

You need to try REVO UNINSTALLER

Don't need to pay for it, free version works

As well as the paid version

Thanks. Not sure if uTorrent.exe is a problem or not, it only sits in program files.

I switched to qBitorrent from utorrent about 2 years ago as well.

I was fed up with the advertising and intrusive nonsense.

qBitorrent is a much better and easier to negotiate interface and absolutely no advertising!

You can put off the advertising in uT. The only "ad" I have is a static green upgrade to uT-pro in lower left corner. Lots of things you don't like , you can modify in advanced options , ducksearch it. Nice clean GUI .

I stopped downloading torrents because I keep getting these warnings from sites like yify and demonoid that my isp is tracking me and will put me in jail for wanting to see a free movie.

Don't understand what you are talking about .

I have been using uTorrent V2.2.1 for years and never had a problem and NEVER had any "advertising and intrusive nonsense"

Sure you are using uTorrent?
