The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) has urged the public to use electricity safely during the Songkran holiday period.

MEA corporate communications division head Charn Pattamawiphak said people were advised to keep electrical equipment in safe areas and in working condition, unplug appliances that are not in use, and check power cords and outlets, immediately repairing damaged equipment.

Revellers were also urged not to splash water near damaged electrical equipment or power cords, which could lead to short circuits, and told to avoid touching electrical equipment when they are wet.

People can report hazards related to the power system to the MEA hotline 1130 24 hours a day.

Words of warning that would not be necessary, if the recipients of said warning, had any brains or common sense to start with.

But grinder in the shower?

An electric grinder is a very common tool used in Thailand....I know I use mine frequently.   If you don't have a grinder, just use your drill.

None of you get it do you? They are referring to the exposed electrical cables that can be seen in any street of this country.  No real country leaves exposed electrical cables where citizens can contact them.

Another embarrassment for this great country.  Bah.
