Not sure but seem to remember from reading previous topics on here that it is 1 year.

Hi.

Last time i renewed mine 1 month late and i had to pass the light test (with the weird helmet) + the psycho-technical test and had to listen to the police officer for 2 hours :(. It was in Bangkok

I think if you're 1 year late you just have to do everything from scartch.

Does anybody know how long do you get from date of expiry to renew your thai license before you have to do tests again?

Up to one year there is no extra test/effort required (no theory or practical test).

After one year theory ("written") test to be redone.

After three years all new from scratch.

With a WP you are in a comfortable position. WP saves you the certificate of residence.

From the DLT site:

Quote

1. ORIGINAL FIVE-YEARS THAI DRIVING LICENCE
2. PASSPORT WITH NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (ORIGINAL AND PHOTO COPY)
3. ORIGINAL PRESENT RESIDENT ADDRESS IN THAILAND CERTIFY FROM EMBASSY / IMMIGRATION BUREAU (VALID FOR 1 YEAR) OR WORK PERMIT WITH ORIGINAL AND PHOTO COPY

You will have to do the physical tests (reaction, eyesight/color blindness).

The DLT site is quite a mess/confusing since it has been reorganized.

But for sake of completeness:

https://www.dlt.go.th/en/one-year-license/

("one year license" is an outdated term and does not apply for you)
