BANGKOK: -- Following the recent trend of locals in the southernmost Narathiwat province drinking water from a “sacred pond” that they believed cured illness, health officials tested the water and found out the pond is actually contaminated with feces.

Instead of being a magic cure-all, provincial health officials said yesterday that the black water will actually cause stomach flu.

Officials took action after rumors spread among residents that water from the pond, located in Sri Sakorn district, cured a man’s blindness and that drinking the water can make sickness go away

This sounds like a gag/satire story from "Not the Nation" website.  But it's not.....  :saai:

Depends on whose feces. A lot of diseases originate in the gut, due to the wrong (balance of) bacteria. Adding the right bacteria can do wonders.

Does this observation come from personal experience?

No, no! that diarrhea and vomiting caused by drinking it is part of the purification process.

Yet we are told we have to respect superstitious beliefs because of?

Things that defy the laws of physics, etc, should be ridiculed. You have the right to believe in whatever you want. You don't have the right to not be called nuts for believing it.

But he's shartsighted now.....

So those promoting this pond as a holy cure all were literally full of s**t then?

Or did they have the good sense not to drink it and were figuratively full of it?

Stomach flu? Flu is caused by viruses. Feces is bacteria laden, especially ecoli. One can easily die from ecoli poisoning, especially elderly or very young. Very dangerous and stupid to ingest such filthy water.

I suspect the story was incorrectly spread around. The first teller probably said "Don't drink the water, it made one fella go blind."

Not only will it hit the fan if U drink it,  right from the start when news of this leaked out, anything of this nature is purely B/S.............................:cheesy:

Disgusting!

How did they manage to contaminate the pond?

I can see! I can see!...But it tastes like $#!t!

But but it tasted so good, it must be ok ?

:cheesy: ... there you go, i know i repeat myself but 'cui bono'  - or was that scam really for free for every Somchai & his dog for once?

Yep, just like outta NotTheNation - or good old Monty P. maybe ...
