Military and police forces launched a crackdown on dark influential figures on Koh Samui as part of the campaign to put the house in order.

Four suspects were arrested and five guns of unspecified calibres as well as ammunition were seized on the first day of the crackdown, code-named Fa Sarng (Dawn), which focused on five targets in Tambon Bor Phud on Koh Samui.

No details were available about the arrested suspects.

Yeah, looks like they got 2 guys with flip-flops and a burmese housemaid.

A crackdown,targeting 5 suspects,I think there are a lot

more influential figures on Samui than that, but better

not aim too high.

regards worgeordie

does this mean they will be getting an entirely new police force?

I seem to have heard all this before!

Looking carefully at the picture if their intent was to clean up Koh Samui's image the least they could have done is clean up the litter in the picture before taking the picture. One seems to cancel the other out

Heard this so many times before, it's all about image, and nothing else. Apparently the authorities care more about "image" than about actually fighting crime and protecting their citizens

There are two types of people who are overly concerned about their image. Businesses and people up to good. The police here fit both categories.

A few more guns out of action, can only be a bit better as we all  suspect that these guns will be resold one day, ban guns for Thais would be a big step forward

Good news, I hope they continue with the clean up and actually do something about the mess. Koh Samui has been really hurt by low tourism.
