Featured Replies

What primary and secondary (prathom and matayom) schools in CM fit into this price range per semester?

Thanks.

Check out Sarasas Witead Lanna School  on the 108 in Hang Dong - close to Makro....

Thanks.

Their fees can be seen here.

Bilingual program, the last 2 columns are the fees for semester one and two. Just under 30k thb per semester, which is very good for a bilingual program.

Wachirawit - Sarasas - Varee - Regina - Sacred heart - Dara

Which of those has:

The best reputation among Western parents/teachers?

And which has the smallest class size?

Any with a 25 students per class limit, for example, or 45-55 students in a class? I believe it usually the Catholic schools that cram them in 55 to a class, but that may be different in CM and different in the EP or Bilingual Departments of these schools.

Any info will be taken with interest. Thanks.

Yes, that would be excellent information, if anyone knows.

We still have one daughter in Sarasas....

Her class sizes have been between 24 & 28.....

Our older daughter had smaller class sizes as the grade level got higher....

But that's only a one family sampling....

EP classes will be smaller. Large class opposed to small class is relevant, but in the end it is up to how good or  bad the teacher is. Example: Regina has near 50 per class, but is an excellent school that has good teachers. Not everyone can teach, and this is the real problem.

With 50 students per class, the teaching method would be based on Rote learning, right?

If the teacher regurgitates the material enough yes. But for the most part it is a respected character and interesting teacher that gets the job done here as the Thai's are on a how much you get down in the semester opposed to a how much they learnt from a lesson

Varee has limit of 35 students per class in EP (now called ESP) in Mathayon 1 (Grade 7) in yesterday's registration for this term starting later in the week

Varee also charges tons more for the ESP class than a standard Catholic school. Varee's normal classes, are they 50? I would bet so.

We just moved from ABS which was more expensive.

Not sure which you consider to be standard Catholic schools.

What program are you referring to when you say "Varee's normal class"?

Ok the TP, TEP, ESP and IP

I accept your bet that they all have over 50 students per class

Call it what you want. What about ESL? Anything that is standard curriculum for Thai schools is what is meant.

...Home school if you can.....
