Thanks.  I also read somewhere I can only apply for a British Passport within the first year of a newborn child is this correct?
No, there is no time limit and once he's of age, he can apply himself, as long as he has your long-form birth certificate!

Hi all,

I will be applying for my 2 month old sons first passport next week. I must agree with the OP  in that the supplimentary documents you need to produce are not very clear.

I intend to submit:

my birth cert

mum birth cert plus translation

my passport main page

mum passport main page

mums ID card

our marriage cert plus translation

sons birth cert plus translation

2 photos of baby, one signed

completed application form signed by me.

I have seen other advice that the Tabien Baan with baby name and mums name change cert plus translations of both are required but i dont see why.

Anyone done this recently and can say what is actually needed  please?

Thanks all. I think i have everything sorted now. Have an appointment at Trendy on Thursday morning and, fingers crossed, i have all my ducks in a row!

Got all the Thai documents translated, passport photos signed by a friend (teacher) so hopefully have everything done!

Thanks again for all of your help, people. have a great day!

May I jump in on this post?

I'm aware of the requirements. How do I make an appointment at the Trendy building? I've googled the passport question and keep getting diverted to the Gov website.

Many thanks.

Ok I've just applied here is what they asked for.

Father:

Copy of passport

Copy of birth certificate

Mother

Copy of Passport

Copy of birth certificate in Thai and translated into English

If you are married and your wife has changed her name that document Thai and English

Marriage Cert in Thai and English

Child

Birth certificate in Thai and English

Copy of Blue book ( book of residency) Thai and English.

All must be copied in  colour and you must bring the originals. They compare the copies and translations with the originals, stamp them and give you the originals back.

I had the same but no wife name change documents and just the wife on tabien ban.

Passport now ready for collection after 10 days. Pretty quick.

Do we get an email from Trendy Building with an appointment to collect it? I've received a message from DHL it's ready to collect but nothing from Trendy.

Strange that you got a message from DHL....  (e-mail or SMS ? or did you mean the VFS)

I collected my sons passport today after receiving an e-mail message from Bangkok HMPO <BangkokHMPO at vfshelpline dot com> to tell you the UK Passport has arrived. I also received a phone call (two weeks after submission).

The e-mail informs you that your passport is ready for collection, there is an attachment (word.doc) which asks you to e-mail to <BangkokHMPO at vfshelpline dot com> to request an appointment for collection *(exact time and date).... You will get an automatic reply telling you that this e-mail address is only for Appointments to submit applications...

... All typical rubbish from the VFS who have never quite got their ducks in a row.

As long as you have received the e-mail informing you that your passport is ready for collection I don't think it really matters and can rock up any time... With the required documents / receipts etc.

Hi,

Did you manage to only submit the main page of the passport or have to colour copy the full thing?

I'm about to apply for my 2 kids and don't fancy destroying a rain forest in the process!

Hi everyone, I hope I can awaken this thread again?

I am about to apply for a UK passport for my half Thai son as well,  My problem is this...

We are renting a condo so we do NOT have a house book Tabien Baan,

When my son was born I went to the Amphur with my partners brother and registered my son at his address so my sons birth certificate now has my partners brothers address on it.

It will be very difficult for us to get our hands on that tabien baan so my question is can we apply for the passport without it??

Can I just put our rented address instead?

Also on the 1st page of the application it asks who is this passport for so I have ticked "child" and my sons full name but it then asked address :( do I put our rented address or the address on his birth certificate??  very confusing stuff :(

Thanks for any advice guys

ps  I have trawled through the mass of information here but cannot find anyone with a similar situation to me as mentioned above about NOT having the blue house book.

The things I will be taking to Trendy will be

1. My passport + every page colour photocopied

2. my partners passport and id colour photocopies

3. My sons birth certificate and translation and colour copies

4. My full birth certificate and colour copy

5. 2x passport photos, counter signed

6. Rental agreement ( translated ) .....no tabian baan ;(

7. all of my sons hospital / Dr records just in case that is handy?

and obviously the application form.

I think this is all I will need but am very worried about the proof of address situation, any help would be appreciated

Cheers

Ritchie
