Yes, you're right.

Thais do learn English as a second language in schools as far as I know for a minimum of 10 years?

They are also taught by native English speakers

That still doesn't give anyone the right to criticise Thai women for a lack of English speaking skills.

English is the world's 2nd language, but that doesn't mean native English speakers can expect everyone to speak their language.

That drives me nuts in places like Spain, when you hear uneducated Brits complaining because Pedro can't understand their order for a "am sarny"

If you're going to spend a lot of time in another country, you should learn the basics of their language, in my humble opinion.

I am not criticising, just saying what I've observed so far.

That's why I have been learning Thai diligently.

Please don't get the wrong idea.

The most prominent language in the world is English.

Chinese and Spanish are only based on speakers. Doesn't make them number one.

You forgot to add that their thai partner ultimately leaves them and they become single mothers...

A lot of girls found in 'other places' are often already single mothers!

Or you can go to a bar like Oxide or Milk Club <snip>  You will have to spend money, I don't think they appreciate customers that nurse one beer for hours.

So, you know the OP, then?

Thai and European languages are so different from each other that it takes a huge amount of effort for Europeans to learn.

Just translate into baby English before using Thai words and you'll be good to go.
