BANGKOK: -- There is no word yet on whether American teen idol Ariana Grande’s concert in Bangkok in August will go ahead after the singer’s concert in Manchester, England was rocked by a deadly explosion on Tuesday (Thailand time).

The Bangkok concert’s organiser, Bec-Tero Entertainment, has not commented but a news update on the issue is expected to be announced on the company’s Facebook page.

Grande’s “Dangerous Woman Tour” concert is scheduled for Impact Arena on August 17 and tickets with a starting price of Bt2,500 are slated to go on sale this Saturday.

Nineteen people were killed and 50 injured in the Manchester explosion that is being treated as a terrorist incident. Grande was unharmed.

Grande, 23, was in town performing the first of three scheduled concerts in the UK. Her next dates include shows in Belgium, Poland, Germany and Switzerland.

The Grammy-nominated artist, who started her career in the Broadway musical “13”, burst onto the international music scene in 2013 with her smash-hit debut album “Yours Truly”, which quickly reached the No 1 spot on the Billboard chart and spawned the popular single “The Way” featuring Mac Miller.

Less than a year later, she released her second chart-topping album “My Everything”, which won her a Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album and gave the world the six times-platinum hit “Problem”, making her the youngest woman to debut with over 400,000 tracks sold in its first week.

In 2013, she was named Best New Artist at the American Music Awards as well as Favourite Breakout Artist at the People’s Choice Awards 2014.

Last year she released her third album, “Dangerous Woman”.

Yes, because rather than the enormous death and suffering, the real news is whether the 'pop star' cancels her Bkk concert or not. ? Seriously?

The editor of the Nation should hang his head in shame.

19 people have lost their lives in a terror attack, and all the Nation can do is spout rubbish about concert in Bangkok, and ticket prices.

SHAME ON YOU.

Yet again a tragedy happens outside Thailand and "The Nation" makes it all about the trivial cosequences to Thailand.

And talking about irrelevancy, I would say that at least half of the items in TV nowadays are of no interest whatsoever to TV readers.

BTW It's time to come clean and rename "ThaiVisa.com" to "TheNationonline.com".

Bombs going off in major shopping centres and military hospitals, personally I don't think Thailand has the intelligence or capability to prevent such a terrorist attack and it would probably be good move to cancel the Bangkok concert.
