Lena Abuelfailat comes from Manchester, UK, where the Ariana Grande terror attack took place last week leaving 22 people dead and several others injured.

Abuelfailat was devastated when she heard about the attack. She told Coconuts, “You never expect for this to happen in your hometown. It’s a sad time. All over the world really.”

She heard that people were releasing 22 pink balloons wherever they were in the world, as a tribute to the 22 victims of the attack. They are using pink balloons because similar ones were released from the rafters at the Manchester Arena concert, just before the attack. It was reported that several young girls were clutching the pink balloons as the blast happened.

As far as the balloons don't run out of helium quickly, they won't end up on the park's ground so she can't get fined for littering ;) Anyway, aren't the fines 2,000 baht for the suckers/(tourists) and 100 baht or so if a Thai person were to get caught and negotiate it to a reasonable rate?

Well 22 balloons should fix everything.

Remember if we get angry, they have won?

I distinctly remember a TV news bit about a group of ladies making 'peace' quilts in the days right after the 9-11 terror attacks. Too bad ISIS did not buy into it. I know it makes people feel like they are doing something...when the real thing you need to do is get your government out of the mess they have created in the world and pink balloons or quilts are not going to accomplish that.

Or someone saying she needs a work permit to do this?

I wonder how many sea turtles or other creatures will think they're jellyfish

and die from eating them. Releasing balloons do nothing!

The terrorists kill and maim.

The victims burn candles, release balloons, pray....

The terrorists and supporters laugh.

And the victims wait for the next act of Muslim terror.

Maybe it is time to do the same back?

Tenfold?

Good for her. Please don't be so negative about someone remembering people who died in this atrocity.

Wonderful English surname.

Abu El Failat ?

Were the balloons trained to fly back to their previous owner once the tourist was out of sight?

hope she wasn't too close to an Airport, or the fine was mooted for over 1Mill last year?

Don't care where they land she will still be guilty of littering. Should show more respect for a country she is visiting.
