Gas Water Heater Problem

Featured Replies

I have a Mazuma? gas water heater which has been fine for 4 years.

Suddenly it has stopped working - It actually ignites when the tap is turned on BUT immediately the gas burner stops.

My first thought was water pressure but I turned on my pumping system and the same happens and looking at the flow I do not think it can be my water pressure.

Anyone have any suggestions what might be causing this.?

Thanks

Give it a flush out first, can't hurt.

The gas tank is full? Try a replacement regulator?

I'll bet on the flame-failure device (thermistor), you'll probably need to take it to your local Mazuma chap (or get him to come out).

Gas is not something to mess about with, leaks can cause explosions, poor combustion can cause carbon-monoxide poisoning, neither is nice.

Thanks,

I'll try the flush

The heater is outside so no worries for CO. I would not have a gas heater inside too risky even with a CO detector

Re thermistor for flame failure - would the gas light up in the first place if this was not working?

Yes, it's like the gas hob, hold down the control for a few seconds until the sensor heats up, let go too soon and it goes out.

Thanks

Any idea what the thermistor might look like?

The business end is a finger that sticks into the flame area. The other end screws into the gas valve.

Thanks everybody

I'll take a look in the next few days.

In case you think I'm having to take cold showers I have one shower that's electric just in case of an event like this!

When ever I have a problem I go on Youtube plenty of good info there

Do a sears on YouTube and watch some videos on troubleshooting tank less gas water heaters .

I did not find anything on your brand but plenty on other brands that probably work the same.

It would not hurt.

AIN'T LIFE WONDERFUL!!

Story up to date

Been prating around with heater on and off for a couple of weeks without success.

Yesterday morning tried to get hot water in the kitchen - no success

Later on in the morning turned on the kitchen tap without realizing the mixer was in the hot position and lo and behold HOT Water.

And this was repeated in the two bathrooms!! Over the course of several hours.

I have no idea what I did but I guess I must be a genius!!!!! (or something).

To paraphrase Crossy's punch line

I can UNDERSTAND what has happened but I can't EXPLAIN it to you
