That is exactly what Hitler did by using the Jewish people as a scapegoat.

The way they treat us here makes me wonder if we will become Thailand's scapegoat.

The stage is surely right for this...

BIB-->brown shirts?

You are correct.  The time for trying to retire in Thailand is over.  I expect full blown communism in 10 years or less as the military replaces the police.

Not sure you understand what communism is.

Communism is a word with 100 different meanings.

Most people use it as a swear word, second only to the swear word fascism.

Funny though, the Chinese government calls itself communist too.

But then again, the American governments always call themselves pro free market.

Words.

Take the borders back to where they belonged, before Jap/Vichy days of WW2

the population remaining within the old borders will all be real Thai then

Delete the Lao back to Laos

Let the hill tribes back to their Burma (I've just cured  Myanamar too  )

Let the Malays get the south back

And may I add: give Thailand back to (the majority of) the Thais.

well... that's the idea

the Thais will be all that's left after the exodus of the 'other' tribes

and their lands too

ethnic cleansing at it's finest

the result will be the army will have an easier job, in preaching to the converted

Has anyone bothered to point out that the greatest threat to the institution is people who carelessly invoke it to justify pursuing unpopular, draconian political programmes? Probably not!

Even the king himself expressed this very same view. Remarkable that the people who proclaim to protect the institution ignore its advise.

Recent events have convinced me the biggest threat to Thailand's wellbeing is the military, their cohorts and glad-handout buddies.

Nope.  It's the people they work for.  The same people that elected officials work for.

All under the "silver or lead" incentive program.

What have Thais got to be proud of about their country, really?

Their numerous inventions and cures that have gone on to on to benefit all mankind, things that have enhanced our lives and have taken for granted as we live comfortably

Patriotism might be a better word but you dont tell people how to be a patriot they have to find  it for themselves. Its not for the Thai army to tell the people to be proud of them, the army have to earn that pride.

Read the story nong88. They are promoting nationalism and trying to disguise it as patriotism. Refer post #16 and you will learn.

If they really want to go down this route, they need to use the tried and tested method of instilling fear of a common enemy. Unfortunately, there isn't really one. The Cambos are the usual whipping boys or the Burmese. However, your average Thai really doesn't feel threatened in any way by either of these nations or its citizens.

Wouldn't it be good if you had a larger, scarier nation that was, say, riding roughshod over immigration law sending its migrant workers to do Thai jobs despite of such a move being illegal. Wouldn't it be convenient if this nation was anti-royalist by definition. Wouldn't it be handy if this nation were actually invading Thailand setting up illegal businesses, massing in the airports, building railways to invade this beautiful Kingdom, no less!

Oh, hang on a minute, I got an idea. :whistling:

See, it's easy.  Put it on a card, and tell them to read it 3 times a day

Where are all the junta apologists in this thread?  I almost miss them.  I guess they couldn't figure out a way to put a positive spin on it.
