HUA HIN: -- Five senior students at a famous Hua Hin university have apologized en masse to relatives of a transgender first year female student.

The five students forced the female student to undergo a hazing ritual in which her clothes were pulled up over her head almost to her breasts.

The incident was shared across social media causing much comment.

The head of the university's committee of investigation professor Phongphoom Sornchomkaew said it was a regrettable incident that brought shame on the university and severe distress to the student concerned and her family.

Yesterday the mother and father and elder sister of the victim came to hear the committee's findings. The five third and fourth year students presented garlands and graap-ed (prostrated themselves) in apology.

The apology was accepted,

But the university - that was not named by Sanook - didn't let the matter rest there.

All the students involved were suspended for one semester.

by transgender I assume you are talking about "lady" boy.

Why assume? And would it matter anyway? It would still be a crime if the person was a "gentleman" girl (female to male trans) and just as nasty.

I guess the student is a post-operative trannie if her/his breasts are above the head!:smile:

Well well.  Can't wait for the bigoted Hua Hin bible bashers and the Europeans snobs who live there to come out and defend this one.  Too true Hua Hin is no worse nor any better than anywhere else in Thailand in reality.

No credit to the university at all.

The students should not just have been suspended for one seemester but kicked out of the university completely.

How about expelling them?

Maybe too harsh... They need to learn a lesson, but no need to ruin their future, no-one will benefit from that.

And the victim? Is their future and the effects of this unimportant?

Should have thought before being so pathetic.

Important. That's why offenders are suspended. While she will study on.

They didn't seem too concerned for their victim at the time and only apologised BECAUSE they were caught.

Life isn't fair either but it happens.

Do stupid stuff and accept the consequences.
