Most people not aware what Prayut govt has done: poll

ONLY 20 per cent of people surveyed in a new Suan Dusit poll said they knew what the Prayut Chan-o-cha government had accomplished.

Suan Dusit Poll conducted the survey this past week to see the extent of people’s awareness about the post-coup government’s work. About 1,100 respondents nation-wide were asked whether they knew what the government was working on.

Only 20 per cent of the respondents said they were aware of what the government had done, attributing it to not closely following political issues, according to results of the survey released yesterday.

Over half the respondents said they knew about the government’s work to some extent, and around eight per cent said they did not know what the government had accomplished because they did not closely follow issues.

Asked what government actions they knew about the most, nearly 80 per cent of respondents identified corruption suppression. Around 75 per cent were aware of registration of the poor, while nearly 70 per cent knew about the high-speed train project.

Some people said they wanted the government to better inform citizens about its Thailand 4.0 project, the new charter and the election, and educational reform.

Asked what work they viewed as the most important achievement of this government, around 85 per cent chose corruption suppression, followed by forest encroachment suppression, and transportation development. Respondents suggested that the government was not sufficiently tackling the economy and military budget, or enforcement of Article 44 on social issues.

On balance, respondents thought the government had done a good job as much as a bad job.

Well aware of what he has done.  He folded deck chairs, stripped freedom of speach, gagged the media, threatened to shut down facebook, signed a contract for military toys, dispatched the army to cover up a female singer, wrote poetry, songs, television dramas and won the hearts of Thai children living abroad.  He has been busy, as he personally stated last week to busy for politics.

It is a blessing that the Junta are in charge and Khun Prayuth Chan O Cha is in the top job. He has worked hard, however some farang just want to throw mud at any news article whether it's a new project being planned or anything to do with his work.

Who kept the media and thai's continuously informed with running TV broadcasts every friday night then daily in some cases.

Who represented Thailand at the UN General assembly and spoke in front of the US president and officials. Do you really think his predecessors were even near professional enough to do what he did ... ?

Who managed to get the China-Thai high speed rail project up and running with 80% going to Thai contractors.

Who cleaned up areas of Sukhumvit which were once plagued by street carts and almost impassable to pedestrians.

Who is looking to implement road safety rules with the banning of persons riding in the back of pickups.

Who is chasing previously convicted criminals to recover millions or billions of baht taken from the thai economy and taxes not paid.

Who is keeping the country running so it is not plagued with lawlessness, protests that block the streets and affect everyday thai's just wanting to go about their business. Who is chasing those suspected of fraudulent rice schemes that cost Thailand billions of baht which can never be recovered because of prices promised and never delivered.

I could go on with more .....   there are dozens upon dozens of activities that Khun Prayuth Chan O Cha has achieved or is pushing to achieve.

But some farang are never happy with the way things are no matter how hard the government works they will always whinge. This shows one's lack of understanding Thai politics and the reason someone such as the Junta and Khun Prayuth has to be in charge to control the troublemakers.

Those whingers and whiners wouldn't even hold a candle to the General. They wouldn't know the first thing about his job.

I think the current government is doing a good job. It is certainly much better than his predecessors. As such one can only hope that the Junta stay in control for as long as possible and hopefully at least 10yrs or longer.

Done a great job on roads, up my way,

thanks leeneeds,  it's good to hear someone come out with a positive statement instead of the usual mud slinging.

I for one am satisfied with the way the government is working.

The Farang who don't like being here should look at other places where they may be happy.

Pretty good.  It took 18 posts before the old "love it or leave it" crap came out.

To be fair though, he posted it twice.

Simple answers for simple minds.

this sounds more like wishes than accomplishments; doubt these people know about the worsening of corruption in thailand as measured by the international watchdogs

Thailand and its politics are two different beasts. Complaining about the latter dont translate into dislike for the former. Only a simplton would use such a linear interpretation.

And a hell lost worse than what it could have been without the military.
