Fatigues and handcuffs?  These were no run of the mill hit men.

If they were any good hitmen then they would have torched the place to clear any possibility of evidence and it's a waste with handcuffs, cable ties are easier, faster and cheaper.

Anyway R.I.P. for the family and I hope any surviving members that were not present at the time stay safe!!!

Absolutely abhorrent crime. When children are targeted for execution it is my belief that (as the dad of young kids myself) the perpetrators forfeit their rights to live and breathe the same oxygen you and I do.

Such a sad story. I hope this case is investigated fully and the killers and masterminds are brought to task

KRABI: -- A village head and 10 other people living in his house in Krabi province were shot in the head execution style by several assailants, leaving eight people dead and three people suffering serious injuries, police said.

Captain Suwit Kaewpreecha, deputy inspector of Ao Luek Police Station in Krabi, was alerted to the massacre at about 1.30am.

The slain victims included three girls, while two other girls were severely injured.

Local residents said they heard gunfire at around midnight on Monday at the house of Worayuth Sunglung, the village head.

Initially, five were killed at the scene and three others, including Woratyuth, died at a hospital.

The other slain victims were identified as Duangporn Sunglung, Suriya Sunglung, Sutthipong Prikdam, Phetdao Sunglung, Anna Butrterb, Kingthian Sunglung and Praemaithong Sunglung. Kingthian and Praemaithong died at the hospital.

Witnesses told police that they saw six or seven men arrive at the house in two vehicles at about 4pm on Monday. The men wore military-style camouflage clothes and they were all armed, witnesses said.

They pretended to be authorities checking the house and held everybody inside the house, witnesses said.

The village head returned to the house at about 8pm and he was handcuffed, witnesses said.

Neighbours head gunfire at about midnight.

The assailants took the village head’s Toyota Yaris and left, witnesses said.

Very sad, if as reported over "conflict of interest" issue.... hope the cowardly perpetrators & money men are caught & receive highest possible sentences...Death by whatever means!!

R.I.P to those innocents slaughtered & may the remaining families recover to get on with life!!

According to witness/s the armed men show up at 4 PM, wait until 8 PM then shoots ever everyone at 11PM  and not one person thinks they should call Police even at 4 PM? For 7 hours not one person though it was unusual to have armed men in fatigues and do nothing about it?   Sad testament to how society responds to suspicious activity when they see it.  I'd be suspicious of the witness.

Does anyone know of an honest village headman? Hate to say it but sometimes people get sick of the injustices taking place in villages around the country. These idiots only care about themselves. Mostly criminals building egos off tax payers money and other illegal activities. My family knows this pain. I don't want to condone or condemn without all verified facts but hope the government gets tough on corruption or i think we are going to see a steady pattern of the same. Certainly nothing new and it does happen all the time but just not basically whole families being taken out in this manner.

Thai philosophy of - "It doesn't involve me, none of my business".

It's sad to say but this is just another news story on just another day in Thailand that will be forgotten about tomorrow.

Thailand has so many issues that within hours the main news story is forgotten about while in most countries this would be the main headline for days.

Law and order is some sort of joke here on this Los. What justifies killings innocent children? It's becoming a truly violent country day by day .

Yep, it is a bit strange.

Must have been extended discussions which failed to produce a satisfactory result for all parties.

Or a long protracted "gotta get it off my chest before I kill you" speech that are so irritiating in movies.

real professionals?they left a few witnesses and probably some prints and forgot the CCTV -tape?

Very sad indeed , but the monsters  will be taken soon.

arriving at 4 and waiting until 8 when he returned is explainable but if the objective had been to kill everyone why would the gunmen wait until later in the evening. before doing so. Clearly there must have been some discussion or negotiation between then which appears to have gone tragically wrong.  I cannot understand the mentality of anyone who is prepared to kill someone else, no matter what that person has done but to kill young innocent family members is beyond imagination.  The police should be looking for people who were known by the family and could therefore have been identified by them if they had just shot the headman and left.  A tragic situation and the sooner these people are behind bars for life the better.

There are three survivors who were present. Their safety should be an obvious priority.

If this horrible massacre had happened in any western country , it would be world wide news. But here in Thailand it's just local news , mai pen rai .

Another possibility is terrorism. There are lot of believers in terrorism living there.

They never move their tree-wheeler less than 400 baht per a trip, operated in a syndicate.

A sad reflection on Thailand, but they don't give a toss.  As one poster said, gunmen sat around for hours and no one called the Police, but would it have mattered????

The General once said that he would try to bring the Headmen into line and make  them accountable.  Of course just hot air as nothing has happened and as you say they are less then honest, doing very little for the village but a lot for themselves. skimming off a minimum of 50% of all funds destined for the village development.   Whilst it is so sad the children became targets I have no doubt he was warned many times and thought he was invincible.  Unfortunately you can not rely on the rule of law to resolve issues as there is none,  so guess someone decided enough was enough and went to these murderous extremes.
