I see drug dealing isn't on there. Phew! The Nigerians are breathing a sigh of relief I bet.

Plus credit card skimming, an art form developed by Thais with the cooperation of their Malaysian neighbours.  Money laundering is not on the list so that is Ok, and I see that Taxidermy is not on the list either so us foreigners, if we wish can stuff things !!!!  :clap2:

Funny you should mention "laundry", I wonder how many coins were stuffed into brown paper bags to allow that German fella design and build that rather large and noticeable race track in Buriram !!

If iam not allowed to drive why did they grant me a licence ?

You are allowed to drive your own car but not light or heavy trucks.

I think that includes not driving passenger vans.

Something lost in translation? :w00t:

I've gotten tired of sewing ladies undergarments in a tin shed after all these years.  I was thinking of getting into making Monk begging bowls, and damned if that isn't on the proscribed list.

Yes, I do believe that Thai to English translation of that list is most definitely lacking in detail !!

Thai critic is not on the prohibited list so a lot of you are safe to continue with your daily criticism of all things Thai. Cheers ?

got my girl a 1 year visa for nz. if i wanted it to be a working visa i just ticked a box on the form and no extra fee. she can work any job she can get at any address. all quite a bit easier than the crap i dealt with over the last 10 years keeping my work permit going in thailand. irony is she works full time looking after our kids so does not need the work permit. whole situation seems silly. people move to wealthy countries to earn more money. i dont see why people would move to thailand to do these menial jobs.

And if some foreigners want to do these jobs, just let them do. As long as they pay taxes, where's the real problem?
The law states from the late 70's, that says all...

thais could use these foreigners desperate to stay in thailand the same way america uses mexicans to do the crappy jobs there.

Do western countries have restrictions on the type of job a foreigner can do? ??

Not really, because that is called racism.
IMO, as far as you comply with regulations and you have the correct qualifications you are allowed to do virtually any job.
It's not connected with your nationality

I find it a nonsense that foreigners who are married to Thai, can not work normally here to contribute to the common family income.
It is only possible with complicated company structures, accountants and a very high imagination salary statement.
There is no other country in the world with this anti-foreigner legislation, for those living and married with native people.
Inhuman and repulsive.

In Turkmenistan under the leadership of the Great President Saparmurat Niyazov who died in 2006, any foreign bloke wanting to marry a Turkmen lass had to stump up a non-refundable US$20 grand to the government. On the other hand, for foreign women after a Turkmen spouse, there was no charge.

Ohhhh so lucky that thais keep all the jobs for less or uneducated for themselves: and yes they know they need for all other jobs all the people outside of the country to work in Thailand otherwise can't get things done by themselve!

So no worry at all

Luckily they are exempt, you would have known this if you bothered to read the OP.

2. Farming including looking after livestock, forestry and fisheries (exception: farm manager).

Please let me get this right: I'm married to a Thai. She owns 10 rai of land, She start a pig-farm and growing foreign vegetables. All for sale or own use including making Ham and Sausages. So I'm not allowed to help my wife, not even get paid ( working for free )  , feeding, harvesting and and and Right, or I break the law. BUT by the Thai Family Law a married couple has to help each other. How does it work.  How is it when I help my friend cutting his gras in his garden or help him out with my truck ( I'm driving ) when he moves to another location. I do it for free noy even charge for fuell ?

You are not allowed to do all these activities under the law.

I think in your village, that's no problem.
The majority of the ordinary thai population do not even know that there are existing such ..$%$§.. laws.
Is also totally incomprehensible for them, if one looks at it from the family perspective.
But if so half-bored officials see you working / helping, there is the possibility of extortion or prosecution.

Dunno mate, read this and get back to us if you think it will work. Can't be half as bad as this stuff though.

30. Various work and duties of an architect including producing blueprints.

I sort of understand why there is no improvement in the construction section by now in Thailand...

5. Driving including operating heavy machinery (exception: airline pilot between countries)

They mean driving as a job, taxi, bus etc.. In which case you would get a professional driving license, you have a stock standard private licence.

If really stuck you could use that to do a final flat when spraying your car.

Still it was an improvement ( not a lot ) on 6 x 6 inch ( hi-so size, normal was 4 x4 ) squares of newspaper hanging on a nail.
