CHIANG MAI: -- The Lhong Khot Police Station in Chiang Mai's Phrao district has maximized its beautiful surroundings to set up an outdoor service point to collect complaints and opinions as part of its strategy to boost good relations with the community.

The service point - set up on the front yard of the most beautiful precinct in Chiang Mai - attracted a lot of attention and many people took pictures with the police officers on duty, against the backdrop of vast greenery and mountains.

Superintendant Pol Colonel Anu Noenhaad said he wanted to take advantage of the view so he set up a table and chairs in the front yard as people lodged complaints and opinions. In future, they plan to add more tables so people could stop by for souvenir shots or have coffee, he said.

For the past two months, Anu has also carried out a charity project to provide food and drinking water free every Thursday at the precinct and its checkpoint to boost relations with the community in the hope of getting more co-operation in future investigations or other police work.

The precinct's jurisdiction area of Tambon Lhong Khot is located 60 kilometres from Chiang Mai City, has a population of about 4,600 people and covers 187,500 rai of land, 90 per cent of which is mountainous forest area. The area is also famous for premium-grade mango.

Have driven past that police station many times. The 1001 is one of the most beautiful roads to drive along anywhere in Chiang Mai. Indeed the "backdrop of vast greenery and mountains" is stunning and the people around that area are also very friendly, as evidenced by this police initiative.
