Anyone obtained a Spanish visa for their Thai partner?

Featured Replies

The header says it all really. Planning on taking my Thai lady for a short holiday to Spain. Wondering how difficult it was to get a visa and was a visa agent used?

There have been a number of posts about applying for a Schengen Visa via the Spanish Consulate, apparently they're not the easiest to deal with due to their apparent disregard to the actual Schengen rules.
Is your Thai lady your wife or a girlfriend, it can make a difference based on your nationality.

She's my partner, not married, but been together 8 years, and I'm an Aussie.

In which case she'll need to apply for a standard short term Schengen Visa, the details are here spainvisa.com/tourist

She'll need to provide evidence of affordability and details of her stay, hotels for the duration as well as flights, together with insurance, the details are all available via the link.

An agent shouldn't be necessary as all they do is collate the paperwork, she still needs to apply herself.

It sound all too hard, perhaps just stick to SE Asia where she doesn't need a visa. Thanks for the info.

The Schengen visa requirements are comparable to what other western nations (UK, Oz etc) asks of (Thai) tourists intending to visit for a holiday: reason of travel, a travel itinerary, proof of affordability and sufficient reasons to return home (TH, Oz?) As overstayed are not welcome.

The exact details are different (see the Schengen sticky topic on this forum) but if you have experience with an Ozzie visa the Schengen visa shouldn't be too difficult.

Yet Thailand offers 30 day free visa for the same countries travelling here. Seems a bit unfair.
