Indian man arrested for sneaking across border

By The Nation

An Indian man was arrested on Saturday while he was about to sneak into Cambodia at the border in Sa Kaew’s Aranyaprathet district.

The man was carrying an Indian passport identifying him as Chandra Subhajit, 33.

Immigration offices at the border checkpoint near Rong Klua market said they spotted a man acting suspiciously.

When he was stopped, it was found that his passport did not carry a Thai entry visa stamp, so he was taken to the Klong Luek police station for an interrogation.

Immigration police checked the records and found that Subhajit had been denied entry into Thailand on November 20 on suspicion that he intended to work in the kingdom, and that he did not have enough money in his bank account.

Subhajit admitted that he had earlier sneaked across the border from Cambodia to work in Bangkok and he was about to sneak back to meet his American boyfriend in Cambodia.

He begged the Thai authorities to deport him to Cambodia instead of sending him back to India, claming that he could be in danger because he is homosexual.

Is he concerned that he may get unlawfully entered himself, if he goes back to India ?
