HUA HIN: -- The local tourism authority and other organizations pulled out all the stops in inviting and welcoming an Italian tourist wounded in last year's bombs at the resort.

Andrea Tessiori, 52, is a guest of the Prajuab Khirikhan tourism authority and is staying at the Hyatt Regency hotel in town.

Mr Tessiori was drinking at a Soi Bintabaht beer bar on August 11th last year when a device exploded injuring him.

This weekend he attended mothers' day activities and a religious event and was presented with a birthday cake that he donated to children who had performed music to mark his return to Thailand.

Mr Tessiori thanked the Thais for the great welcome back and expressed his confidence in the safety of the area.

He told Daily News that before the bombing last year he had made merit at a temple in Khao Takiap and credited that with having been not more seriously injured in the blast.
