Never seen it but would like to.

Am I the only person who brings boil-in-the-bag kippers in his luggage when returning from a trip to the UK? Probably not.

Nope. You're not the only one. I bring them as well. ??

In Pattaya at least you can get smoked haddock & kippers in Siamburys on Soi Khatalo , Tops supermarket in central stock Waitrose boil in the bag kippers although they do sell out quick.

TOPS in Bangkok also stocks Waitrose kippers.

I too have searched for smoked haddock in BKK many times... one of my all time favourite meals: smoked haddock cooked in milk, boiled new potatoes and garden peas.

Anyone in Pattaya who likes European style preserved fish should try the Casa Pascal brunch buffet. One of the permanent items is a sort of fairly dry smoked mackerel/kipper. I think that maybe they smoke it themselves. It's very nice, though a bit hard to describe exactly as it falls somewhere between the two by UK standards. I'm not even sure exactly what the basic fish is, presumably because it's local. It may be a German style that I'm not familiar with.

They also do a sort of white fish filet (probably panga) in vinegar with raw pickled onions and herbs. Not as good as a rollmop (shame!) but not bad.
