Friend of mine using my Yamaha Fino has managed to lose the key to the bike. Don't have a spare. How do I solve that problem? Will the local Yamaha-dealer be able to order a new key by using the frame-no. in the green book?

Will a normal locksmith be able to solve the problem?

Thanks

Another option, although a possibly more expensive route is to replace all locks/barrels.  That means a completely new set of keys, which enables you to keep a spare set at home.

If later you lose a key then use the original 'spare' to get a new one cut.

Cost for new barrels c/w keys?  I would think around the 2000 baht range.  Check with an authorised Yamaha repair shop...it may be cheaper.

I had the keyhole cover on a fuel tank filler break off quite some time ago.  It was on a relatively new CRF (2 months old).  It didnt occur due to rough treatment but appeared to be a manufacturing fault.   After a bit of a discussion with the service manager it was decided that they would replace all the barrels/locks.

That included starting key/lock, fuel tank and small storage space for toolkit.  Initially they tried to blame me for the broken cover but when I showed and explained the corrosion to the cover they had to agree.  Head office (Honda) in BKK agreed to foot the bill (Charges).  I think it was around 2500 baht.
