I'd give more credence to your comment if even one of Thailand's 6000 generals had even seen action. Lobbing mortar shells at Cambodian peasants on behalf of your financial benefactors in the Yellow Shirts over a temple that was never Thai doesn't count.

You could put forward the case that the Army is a pyramid scheme for the boys and once you pay in you get to reap the rewards all the way to the top (if you have the money and connections to make it that far).

Over 50% of judges are from a military background. Don't know what rank one has to be but, I guess Generals go into higher courts than Colonels.

Nice work, if you can get it; over 100k Bhat pension and 100k judge wage a month. Makes the fee money well worth it in the long term. Plus there might be the chance to sentence some mushroom picker or fb visitors.

She won't need it. The Home Secretary will fill it in on her behalf while she is relaxing with a pint of Wifebeater in the pub next door.

Not sure that the Tories will want that much to with her, bearing in mind that her natural political allies in the UK are Labour and, in particular, the Corbynistas. Of course if there were to be yet another snap election and ol' Jezza were to become PM, things would change. In particular John McDonnell would no doubt want to take lessons from her in the optimal squandering of taxpayers' monies - through the introduction of a Marmite-pledging scheme, perhaps?

You sure seem to be a big fan (or is it fane?) of the letter e, quad !

I love the way 'hilariouse' and 'kingdome' sound when spoken out loud :cheesy:

Ah, Britain. The best place to claim asylum. Not the best place for spouses to apply for residency.

Why would she want asylum in third world Britain? She probably wouldn't qualify anyway. Wrong religion.

I'd be proud if Britain offered her asylum and sent that Red Bull scum back here. Britain has a proud history of democracy, ethics and freedom and she would be safe there.

She is a criminal on the run so one would hope that she would be arrested and shipped back to Thailand.  However I am sure she would be allowed some wriggle room as her brother was and the chance to move on to a more suitable destination.

Asylum. What a joke, she is guilty of at the very least criminal negligence, or looking the other way to frankly unchecked corruption by those in her party. As a UK citizen I would be disgusted if she was to be granted asylum, especially when there are many hundreds of thousands of INNOCENT people fleeing actual harm in their home nations.

Can only keep repeating that this idiotic woman is NOT THE VICTIM OF ANYTHING THAT WASN'T OF HER OWN MAKING. She is fleeing rightful criminal prosecution, and that should provide no grounds for asylum whatsoever.

Whatever you say, she was (and possibly still is) the legally elected democratic prime minister who was illegally removed by a man with plenty of fire power at his disposal. She was persecuted after the coup by people who hadn't thought of the consequences of their actions but now realise that imprisoning her does not meet their aims. Hmmm

Thailand's Lawless Junta Versus Yingluck Shinawatra: Using Courts to Punish Political Opponents

" Of course, the trial never was fair. It was orchestrated by Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha. Installed as prime minister at the head of the self-proclaimed National Council for Peace and Order, he is a comic figure highly sensitive to criticism and with delusions of grandeur. But he brooks no opposition."

OUCH! Read the rest. This is how the rest of the world sees Thailand now. It does not matter what the back story is.

Thaksin  was residing in the UK when  he left to attend the Olympics the UK  cancelled his visa  and prevented a return

so the odds are against his sister being given asylum .At least i hope so .

So how would you explain this line in the OP?

Thaksin, who once owned Manchester City football club, owns property in London and spends significant amounts of time in the city.

Let's hope this is the end of the corrupt Shin Clan. They stole billions end let the poor suffer for them. Thaksin, during his earlier speeches told the poor to fight the army "fight, I am right behind you". Resulting in many deaths. The wealthy using the poor to get even wealthier. A truly disgusting family.

If I did not love my country, enough to fight for it. I guess I would leave.

Being in a jail cell, for however many years, entirely under the control of a military junta who took power to prevent your re-election, silenced and allowed only those whom the junta permits to visit or have contact with you is not really fighting for your country now is it?

She stayed in the country, as a focal point for opposition to the junta for as long as she could.

Not the UK, if she still has any taste for the good life. As recognisable as she is, she wouldn't get a moment's peace, except maybe on the Orkneys. I think the Languedoc region of SW France would be more her style.

Jesting aside, though, isn't the only question worth asking, "Where does Thailand go from here, if it is to stand an earthly chance of regaining respect as an international power on all fronts?" Whichever way we turn, we have human-rights, trade, infrastructure, health, education, and law & order issues that require urgent attention. If he is to make a fist of sorting only half of these, the hard-pushed general may have to end his Friday 'specials' on TV. How about a vote on that, now . . . all those in favour say 'Ay'

Will have to await court decision as to whether found guilty or not... but she's almost declared herself guilty by flight from country!

If found guilty, what basis could she apply to UK for Asylum? A convicted criminal, don't think so!!

Maybe swap places with Julian Assange in Ecuadorian Embassy?

At least if UK, Thailand likely has extradition treaty???? Easy...

If report true, shows what weak, greedy, gutless characters the Puppeteer & the Puppet are....

There is no way the UK would ever extradite her to Thailand. The term "convicted criminal" is not worth anything outside of Thailand. Courtesy of the dodgy Thai Justice system, the way this case was conducted (almost no-one does not think it is a political witch hunt) and... the fact that Thailand is ruled by criminals who only avoided being convicted by placing themselves above the law, courtesy of their self written interim constitution.

Amnesty, apparently no problem if it benefits some people and worth demonstrating for months on end, if it appears to be benefitting the wrong people.... This is Thailand's hypocracy in a nutshell..

Funny how Thaksin can own property in the UK, and we cannot,     because there is not an agreement like the Phil  have,  we do not get increment increases in our old age pensions here in Thailand but in Phil you do.   Yingluck  will be able to buy,  there I cannot here  ---to say it again-----so where is the line with this reciprocal agreement.   ????    no wonder Yingluck will aim for England, also her child for schooling.

Why do you keep repeating these lies

She was removed from power before the coup by the Constitutional Court of Thailand after finding her guilty of abuse of power on 07 May

As her brother has 6 passports, may she obtain as many possible and enjoy her free life until one day this country is in better hands when her and her brother can have a full pardon and return, besides the weather in the UK is miserable, why would anyone want to live there ?

There isn't any point. The hardcore fascist / crank element on here are so brainwashed, they would dismiss God himself coming down from the heavens and spelling it out in letters of fire.

No, be fair, one would "yawn", one would claim he was being paid to post, one other would argue that he was just another newbie who hadn't been around long enough for his views to count, and several would assert that he was being paid by Thaksin. The latter assertion would be accompanied by the testimony of their sister in laws daughters nannies grandmother, who saw the money changing hands in a "red village"

A glass of beer to the first person who can correctly name the first three, umh, "suspects"!

Of course this is all speculation on my part?

What or how, I believe she was escorted to some border point in a style she is used to. A number of expensive vehicles with a motorcycle leading the way to clear the traffic in her path.

She would have gone to Hong Kong to the brothers property to do a bit of shopping while waiting her faith but there was a storm.  She could have went by high speed trains but the government is still trying to figure it out with the Chinese?

So many options borders are so large how they anyone figure it out?:sorry:

Spending time in Dubai as a women would be akin to jail - speaking as someone who has worked in Dubai with female colleagues who refused to return.

Somehow, I doubt she'll have the same issues as someone working there on a salary.

But here's a thought.  Go down to a female Thai prison and offer any of the ladies the choice of living in Dubai (no sex work required) or staying in the Thai prison.  Let me know what you find.

On another site today there's mention that boonxxxx is actually the lacky / the fallman for the unethical projects and actions of  another member of the paymasters' family.

Interesting reading, however it could possibly fit with the comments in todays' BP by suraxxxx.

In regard to boonxxxx even if he was the lacky of another powerful, ruthless and immoral person he is a well educated and well experienced man but immoral and unethical, he chose to head up as the main man in the G to G deals and no doubt was very well rewarded (he's a billionaire) and now he's paid the price. We reap what we sow.

She has not been convicted yet. And even IF convicted, the word "convicted criminal" in this particular case means absolutely nothing. Thailand is currently run by criminals, and the only reason they aren't convicted is because they awarded themselves amnesty.
