    I noticed these going airside and at the gate on a domestic departure a couple of weeks ago but they weren't then in use. What's the process to use them on international departures?

    The article doesn't mention online check-in but only "early check-in" and going by the photo it's referring to the automated check-in (and bag drop) service. It looks like this will be available 24 hours prior to departure, although what benefit that gives, if any, is questionable.

    You should never accept the ATM conversion - that's exposing you to DCC as explained upthread. Reject the conversion and you'll get the "correct" exchange rate. You're also comparing credit card with debit card which could be using different processors with different exchange rates (probably not 120 baht different though) and don't mention the ATM fee if the transaction was completed.

    No, your US bank does not. As per my post it's the payment processor noted on your card, which seems like Mastercard for you. The "other" rate offered at the ATM is being offered by the ATM operator and as you say is usually much lower.

    I think most use the services of Wise or similar and let them do the conversion. Someone else worked out that was more cost effective up to around $22K USD IIRC. SWIFT transfers better above that. If you want to time the exchange to get a higher rate you can do that by holding it in Wise, and I think you can even preset a rate where they'll convert it automatically.

    Where did you check it at 9am? The exchange rate is set by the payment processor - usually Visa or Mastercard - and not by the ATM operator, unless you opt for DCC as mentioned. It'll be slightly below the rate you see on XE or Wise, for example, as Visa/Mastercard take their cut.

    No, or I wouldn't have asked the question. My thinking is that it doesn't matter who receives it, if it's taxable money then tax is due and if it's an attempt to evade tax then it shouldn't be asked on here.

    The wording now is explicit whereas it wasn't before and does not require it to be on the same airline. I don't think there's room for misinterpretation or different interpretations. This may well not disappear as the new wording doesn't put a time limit on the when the ticket should be for, although it does mention any extension will be for 30 days.     Correction - it's towards the right if you come to the immigration hall nearest the E, F, G gates.

    I've not seen any reports on this, but the information to airlines was updated recently and now acknowledges extensions are possible and an onward/return ticket can be for further out than 60 days.

    It's a closed currency so not easy to be traded outside.

    I don't think that'll happen. I don't know the process but Siamburi's Expat Shop in Pattaya mentioned a few days ago that The Farm Place, one of their suppliers, had got all 17 of their products through FDA approval and it's only a month or two since they (Siamburi's) were "raided" by the FDA and closed for a few days which kicked off the process. They also have at least 6 types of Cumberland Sausage still for sale which must be approved.
