CR airport to KL beach, if we drove, would cost all of about ฿1800 / one way. 1600 kms, 5 full charges (46.3kWh per 320 kms @ ฿8kWh) Come on ... nice road trip 😎 That would cost ฿4000 if driving the ICE version of the ZS

Never stated intent to, or planned to leave TH, after arriving Sept 2000. Commuted to work (USA) a few times, then stayed permanently Mar 2001. Returned 2X, once for couple months, help mother pass on to new dimension, and other time was for long weekend, to pick up check 😎 Any other time, was popping across the border to do 90 day turn around, (Laos & Myanmar) or a short week to Vientiane. Last time doing that was Aug 2012.

Well that sort of depends on one's relationship. Does it always have to come down to share of actually money/money put into a relationship. Best example, from my real life with present wife, she 'contributed' as much or more, if considering savings from being with her in the 'long game'. She turned 720k into 3M+, and something I couldn't do, since not allowed to ... own land. The 720k was shared input, and about equal. Our present house w/solar & EVs we presently own, cost about that much, 3M, and all paid for, from her investing savvy. So reality, she paid for it all, along with no need for future expenditures for housing, electric and transportation, as the play, savings & oops accounts grow at an amazing rate. More so as she continues to invest and more land. ... that's priceless

Kamala Harris Expresses Openness to Exploring Reparations for Slavery
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Reparations ... damn, that throws a wrench into my planned return to the USA. Need to decide ... ... return through Mexican border as as illegal immigrant for free sh!t ... or simply identify as an African American -
So is repeating the same question when the answer was obvious from the very first reply ... ... wait for it ....

Seriously ... ... you forgot to ask for a source or a link to that info ... as stated, get out more & open your eyes. Pay attention with an unbias, preconceived mind, and you'll learn quite a bit.
-
You obviously need to get out more, or at least open your eyes, as @Hummin points out, 'hand' holding is catching on. I emphasize 'hand' holding, as when I first got here, I thought half the people were gay. As seen so many woman / girls, men / boys, holding each others arms while walking about and in malls. Much more physical contact than same sex friends where I grew up / USA. Couples have morphed that down to hand holding, probably due to western TV viewing. Rarer, but some even show affection in public now, though nothing like westerners.

LH Invests 5.7 Billion Baht to Elevate Pattaya's Shopping Scene
KhunLA replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Elevate ... why ? Do they fear those rising seas -
Been holding my partner's hand in public for over 50 years, in 7 or 8 different countries. TH just happens to be one of them.

Says there might be some hope after all. An experience savvy businessman, who has shown leadership skills. The alternative would be another useless, unqualified puppet, that people would vote for, simply because she is a mixed raced daughter of first generation immigrants. 2024 ... HARRIS ... 2024

Moderation, as with any vice. I indulge in less than 1 doobie (joint/ganga cig) a month. The other night, matter of fact, though didn't help me enjoy the latest 'Alien' movie, and just a decent time killer. Just petting the dog, or relaxing after sex (not w/dog), is meditating / relaxing enough. Walks in the park, looking for critters to take a snap of, or operating the drones. Doing nothing on front or back porch, watching the birds.

US Retirement system equal to Kazakhstan? Really?
KhunLA replied to GypsyT's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Not super rich, but did break that top 5% ranking a couple times, but I've paid 37% fed. income tax also. Only because I didn't have deductions. Super rich with assets & loans, have deductions, and if smart, no taxable income. On average, they pay 25%. -

US Retirement system equal to Kazakhstan? Really?
KhunLA replied to GypsyT's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Anyone that depends on something or someone else for a comfy retirement, is a fool when it comes to managing their finance ... or any other aspect of their life I learned that early on, after deciding on a career path, when the 2nd & 3rd airlines I worked for, went belly up & filed for bankruptcy, respectfully. Didn't need to be shown a 3rd time, their is no income security as an employee, for anyone. After that ... time to be self employed. Of course if you managed to get one of them good jobs, for 10-20-30 years, then you should have quite a bit set aside, or vested elsewhere. As you never know when that gravy train might come to a screeching halt. As my 4th airlines filed for bankruptcy, which was my last job. After 30 yrs of being an employee on & off, time to retire, at 46, as had enough with having to be somewhere at any time, for any reason. Time for 'me time', 100% of the time If I relied on the corporate world, I'd have be a slave for 20 more years, w/crappy pension & Soc Sec to live on ... NO THANKS -
Agree, there is no real reason to charge up to 100%. Especially if that is all we're doing, is sitting waiting to be at 100% I'm not a patient person, if doing nothing. Walk dog/stretch, P, munch and we're done about same time as car. Many times car finished to 90-95% before we're don munching. Only if nobody is waiting and we're searching internet will it ever get 100% at CS. Though 90% would be fine, as the MG ZS actually doesn't start slowing down till about 95%, and that last 5% can take 15-20 minutes. I'm definitely not waiting 15 mins for 5%, and really rude to make someone else wait. We rarely charge to 100%, especially if someone is waiting. 90-95% is way more than enough for our next leg, as means we're already 3+ hrs away from home.

I'm a Yank, and post was easily understood. No need to be from UK to understand. Amazed that would go over anyone's head

Mine have been instant, as soon as pick up driver scans return label. It shows in my 'wallet'. One reason that I only (usually) deal with 'LAXMALL' vendors. Another is refund is never refused, even for simply changing my mind. Then if refund is a large amount, simply transfer the refund to my bank account, also done within a few days.

Pink I.D Card & Yellow Book
KhunLA replied to Bangkok Black's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Only time I'm asked, for passport at hotels, is if we stay at a chain hotel, which is always ibis, since pet friendly. They rarely ask for passport, though have occasionally. Pink ID or DL is enough, but I do have an Accor account # which we usually book with. -
Actually it got worse, with congestion, no parking, and price increases across the board. Only good additions, are BluPort & Market Village. Use to be a regular stop for us, a short wee, about 15 yrs running, then down to, 1 or 2 nights, and then points beyond southward. About 4 times a year during school breaks Now it's simply a pitstop, munch & quick shopping on the way back home, after a visit to Krung Thep. We're only 100 kms away, and we don't bother with HH much. Pop in a few times a year when driving by, and once for Immigration (extension).

Not sure about that, using the ZS (ZS & VS are similar size) Closer to the HS, as wheelbase is a bit telling ... Most are assuming it is a revamped ZS. Although, I'm leaning toward discontinuing the ZS EV, since a hybrid is coming out for 2025. Same with the MG3, now as a hybrid. Maybe they want the BEVs to be a separate designated model. Pink I.D Card & Yellow Book
KhunLA replied to Bangkok Black's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I use quite often, when anyone asks me for ID, like guesthouses. Rare they ask, as wife does the checking in. If need to give someone my name & address, it's easier just to hand them my pink ID instead of talking to them. If someone asks for my passport, I'll hand them pink ID first, and 9 out of 10 times, that will satisfy. Less people handling my passport, the better. Yellow book is way too handy, when needing to prove your address to govt offices / services, or utility companies. -
