Man killed when tree falls on motorbike in Phitsnulok

By The Nation

A man was killed and another severely injured when a large tree fell on their motorcycle on a road in Phitsanulok’s Nakhon Thai district early on Saturday, police said.

Pol Captain Siripong Nguanchanthong, deputy inspector of Nakhon Thai police station, was alerted about the accident on Ban Yaeng-Nakhon Thai road in Moo 9 village in Tambon Nong Krathao at 2am.

He rushed to the scene with rescuers to find the body of Watcharawit Sikaew, 23, crushed under the tree. The other rider, Pol Lance-Corporal Pongsakorn Chaiwal, 20, was injured in the incident. He was pulled out from under the tree and rushed to hospital.

Another motorcyclist, who alerted police, said he was overtaken by the motorbike involved in the incident and, when he arrived at the scene, saw that a tree was blocking the road.

He first saw a headlight shining from under the tree and then realised that the bike that had overtaken him had been crushed.

A truly awful way to 'leave the building', and only 23 yo....so sad.
