Given the Buddhist view on the sanctity of life, it should be a very easy decision to make, and it wouldn't be to push people out to sea to possibly die. I also fail to see how genuine refugees threaten the security of a nation. Maybe you feel that genocide is OK if it doesn't involve you or your family.

Thailand is for Thai people... there's no way they're going to open the borders for the refugees to flood across the border to become a huge issue here, let one in & thousands will follow

I think Thailand breathed a sigh of relief when they headed west to Bangladesh

1) They can't speak Thai

2) They cannot support themsleves
3) They have little or no chance of finding work

4) Thailand isn't about to set-up refugee camps to house muslims for the next god knows how many years!
5) They have no citizenship as such, no passports & no documentation...

We have one Buddhist country ethnically cleansing them (led and supported by monks and silently accepted by a noble peace prize winning leader?) and another turning them out to die at sea. Half a million people who don't stand a snowball's chance in hell.

Why don't they just ask their all powerful one true god, creator of the universe and destroyer of none believers to help them?... They have such strong beliefs they want to die for, force their women to hide their faces, kill gays and go around chopping people heads off in the name of their religion..... oh, wait, he won't help them, because its all a load a crap!

I see THAI BUDDISTS are no better that MYNAMAR Buddists, for a NATION a bad decision to publically announce it , nolw Thailand is NO BETYTER than Myanmar. Expected nothing else from this racist country.

It has to do with poor education here. They don't really know what they should say or not publicly......A high raking military should think hard before saying such thing...but again......little or no brain at all...

As the number of Rohingya fleeing what the UN has described as “textbook” ethnic cleansing reached an estimated 412,000 people Monday,

It must be bad to be called "textbook" ethnic cleansing.

the last century saw a few examples of ethnic cleansing (perhaps not "textbook"), and we all shook our heads in sadness.... usually after the fact

obviously the world feels the need to share that shame, from generation to generation.... over and over again.

Would the outcry be the same if those being pushed out were Maronite Christians, The Bengali have been a problem in Burma since 1922. Do not try and forget that BurmaBengalis armed by the British is WW2  then turned and massacred 20,000 Rakhines or was that acceptable as they are Buddhists. Sectarian, Religious and ethnic violence is nothing new. These people are not Burmese and Burma does not want them. I do not condone murder and rape but given some study of the history i understand the problem. And it is deep as that of Ulster. Things do not go away they simmer

I can hear the TVF SJWs now.

A tough decision to make, but at least the security of the Thai state seems to be taking priority here.

What a terrible statement and a weak excuse. As a former soldier and a person of morals. I will say Thailand invested billions on a army that is not worth a nickel.  I will also say I have no respect for that general.who has a lot to answer for. What did he call himself a supporter of human rights. What a joke. I despise

Yeap. Spirituality is a personal feeling. Whatever gets you through the day. Religion is an organised body that uses their ideas for power and wealth.

Of course they sell flowers and want donations and it's one big rort.

'Expected nothing else from this racist country'

As a foreigner living in Thailand (if indeed you are,) you may call Thais racist when dealing with you in a way that offends you.

However the Rohingya "problem" has nothing to do with race and everything to do with religion, Buddhism versus Islam. The Rohingya Muslims are Asian as are Burmese and Thais, so not racist at all as thy are all of the Asian race.

If it was Africans or Europeans involved it may be considered racist.

Never mind, at this rate of attrition, they'll all be done by Christmas.

Do you consider the Arakan massacres of 1942 to have been religiously motivated?

Its very clear to me, that many of the TV members don't lived in  EU countries with a large Muslim population.  In many large cities there are No Go Zones  for law enforcement, controled by Muslims.

This BS will be repeated over and over!

That doesn't make it true, though!

You are proud that The Thai Navy is to force these people back out to sea, to face an almost inevitable death.

You are proud of Thailands existing record with these people?

There is a word for people like you. I'm not allowed to use it on here.

I'll give you a clue - it has four letters and is of Anglo Saxon origin...

No sarcasm . I wish the folks back home took notice. Europe would not be in this mess . Be glad that Thailand has your and my back , at least in this case. Let them sail on to Malaysia or Indonesia.

I don't think the word "WISE" is forbidden on this site. I think it would be wise for these people to go to another Muslim country like Malaysia, Indonesia, or Bangladesh where they share the same beliefs and can integrate into the existing society. Why isn't the OIC out there helping these people? They have 57 member countries but NEVER EVER help their own.

No, I think that would be regarded as inter communal violence based on affiliation with the axis power, Japan, vs the British who had retreated under Wavell who established V force using Rohingya locals.. Not religious in that case IMO.

Hate is on all sides.

Bigots are everywhere.

I've lived in majority Muslim areas, taught in them, socialised in them.

There was no more hate, intolerance and bigotry there than in non Muslim majority areas.

Don't believe all the bigots BS.

The problem with some is they have no first hand experience of living with or close to Muslim areas in the UK they read bullS>>> in news stories and then put their own spin on it, these people are lower class dumbo's who are too stupid to understand that there is good and bad in all races. I have seen more racism here than the UK where there is a law to stop racial comments, here they just PUSH IT BACK and some are just dam ignorant and to be avoided as a lost cause.

I'm just pointing out that islamaphobe bigots spread BS about all the hate, intolerance, prejudice being on one side.

That's not true.

All faiths/sections of society have their hate riddled bigots who spread intolerance at every opportunity.

You mean like the Rohingya Terrorists with ties to Al Qaeda; just some good ol' boys out for fun and a little village burning in Myanmar with a long term plan of eventually taking over the country.

RohingyaTerroists.jpg

I should point out that these are real Rohingya terrorist that are financed by Bangladesh and supported by Al Qaeda.
