Thai woman arrested with ‘ice’ at Sa Kaew checkpoint

By The Nation

A Thai woman crossing the border from Poi Pet in Cambodia with “sleepy eyes” was stopped by immigration police at the Aranyaprathen checkpoint and found to be carrying a small amount of crystal meth into Thailand.

Champee Khantharasa, 28, was arrested when border officials found 0.4 grams of the drug, known as “ice”, in two plastic zip bags hidden in her backpack.

The woman was crossing the checkpoint at 9:30am on her way back from Poi Pet. The officials noticed that her eyes appeared sleepy as if she was high on a drug, so they had female rangers search her.

Champee said she bought the drug from a Cambodian man for her own use and she planned to use the remaining amount at a party with friends. She said she worked for an online gambling site in Cambodia and was visiting home on her day off.
