Surin is a pleasant town, the province has some nice provincial roads and in the south there is Phanom Rung historical park, well worth a visit !

Phanom Rung is obviously in Buriram - but in striking distance of a Surin trip  (83 km).

There's not a lot to do here in Surin.

If you like nightlife, book a room in the Thong Tarin Hotel then head downstairs to Soi Kola, Surin's answer to Walking Street.

Head to the Chom Chong market just past Kap Choeng near the Cambodian border crossing.  It is pretty big and not too busy.

Then head further east from there to Buachet where there is a nice mountain top temple and some waterfalls.

The Elephant village at Ban Ta Klang is inexpensive..  (If you like that stuff)    Worth a stop if you have transportation.
